Shimla, February 26:
The district police in Shimla on Wednesday said it ensured prompt and lawful action in connection with an alleged abduction incident reported from Chanshal Resort in Chirgaon.
According to officials, information was received on Tuesday morning from the resort stating that a group of individuals, dressed in civil clothes and travelling in vehicles bearing registration numbers of other states, had allegedly taken away three guests staying at the property. The complainant further alleged that certain electronic equipment, including a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), was also taken.
Considering the seriousness of the complaint, Shimla Police immediately initiated legal proceedings to verify the facts and ensure due process. In coordination with Solan Police, multiple teams were deployed, and the individuals concerned were intercepted at various locations, including Shoghi, ISBT Shimla and Dharampur.
During verification, it was found that the team comprised personnel from Delhi and Haryana Police. They were reportedly acting in connection with a case registered in Delhi and had taken the three individuals into custody while pursuing them.
To ensure compliance with legal procedures and safeguard the rights of the detained individuals, Shimla Police produced them before the competent local court. The three persons were also subjected to medical examination at Ripon Hospital in Shimla.
Subsequently, the court of the ACJM-II, Shimla, granted an 18-hour transit remand. After completion of all statutory formalities and due verification, the Delhi and Haryana Police team was permitted to leave for Delhi with the individuals.
Meanwhile, on the complaint filed by the owner of Chansul Resort, Chirgaon Police Station registered FIR No. 18/2026 dated February 25, 2026, under relevant sections of law. The investigation is ongoing.
Shimla Police reiterated its commitment to swift response, strict adherence to legal procedures and effective inter-state coordination to ensure that all actions are conducted within the framework of law while maintaining public trust.
