Shimla, February 26:
District Police Shimla achieved swift success in tracing a missing 17-year-old boy by closely monitoring social media activity and conducting technical analysis. The minor, a Class 12 student from Bhattakufar, had left home for school on February 21 but did not reach the campus, prompting his family to lodge a missing report at Dhalli Police Station.
An FIR (No. 11/26) was registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), after which police teams immediately launched an investigation. Officials examined the minor’s mobile phone records, analyzed his social media accounts, and questioned friends and known contacts to gather clues about his whereabouts.
Based on leads generated through digital tracking and continuous monitoring, the police traced the boy’s location to Chandigarh. With the assistance of his family members, a team reached Chandigarh and safely recovered him.
After completing all legal formalities, the minor was handed over to his family. Further investigation is underway.
Shimla Police has urged parents to remain vigilant about their children’s social media usage and report any suspicious activity to authorities without delay.
