Shimla: Himachal Pradesh’s daughter Ritu Sood has made an impressive debut in the South Indian film industry with “Mass Jathara.” Ritu plays a mysterious, intense, and commanding character that has won widespread appreciation from both audiences and critics.

The film features South superstar Ravi Teja and Sreeleela in lead roles, while Naveen Chandra plays the main antagonist. Ritu Sood portrays a close relative of Naveen Chandra’s character — a family deeply involved in plotting against police officers and anyone who dares to obstruct their illegal business — even the film’s hero is on their hit list.
Ritu’s character is portrayed as a ruthless yet composed woman whose very presence adds a gripping intensity to the screen. Viewers have praised her performance, saying she brought the role to life with “controlled expressions and a strong screen presence.”
The film is directed by Bhanu bhogavarupu, with Vidu Ayyanan as the DOP. The thrilling action sequences have been choreographed by famous action director Venkat Naga, known for creating high-intensity and visually gripping action scenes. Mass Jathara has been produced under the banner of Sitara Entertainments and was filmed in Hyderabad.
Before this, Ritu appeared in films like “Do Patti” and “Bastar,” portraying roles of a government officer and a diplomat, respectively. “Do Patti” was recently released on Netflix, where her performance received much appreciation. On television, she played the memorable role of ‘Maa Surasa’ in “Shrimad Ramayan,” which earned her wide recognition.
Born in Shimla, Ritu completed her schooling at Auckland House School and her higher education from St. Bede’s College. Later, she pursued an MBA from Delhi and worked as a Branch Manager with reputed companies like Philips and Samsonite.
Now, Ritu Sood is all set to take her acting career to new heights. She says she wishes to play characters that reflect both the strength of women and the depth of human emotion.
Through “Mass Jathara,” Ritu has proved that talent knows no boundaries — from the serene valleys of Himachal to the vibrant world of South Indian cinema. Her performance has established her as a sensitive and powerful actor in the industry.
Ritu Sood will soon be seen in new Bollywood and web series projects.
