A two young ice skaters from Shimla, Samarth Attri and Tejasvi Kuthiala, have been selected to represent India at the Asian Short Track Ice Skating Trophy 2026, marking a significant achievement for Himachal Pradesh’s winter sports community.
Samarth Attri, a Class 10 student of Auckland House School, Shimla, secured his place in the Indian squad following an impressive performance at the 21st National Short Track Ice Skating Championship held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and the subsequent national training camp. Trained under coach Pankaj Prabhakar at the historic Shimla Ice Skating Rink for the past six to seven years, Samarth has steadily emerged as one of the state’s promising young skaters. His family traces its roots to Hamirpur district.
Tejasvi Kuthiala, a student of Auckland House School (Girls), Shimla, also earned selection after showcasing her skills during the national championship and training camp, underlining the growing talent pool emerging from Himachal Pradesh.
The selection of both athletes has been hailed as a proud moment for their families, schools, coaches and the sporting fraternity in the state. Their achievement reflects years of disciplined training, perseverance and dedication to the sport.
Expressing pride over Samarth’s accomplishment, his family said the young skater’s journey proves that determination, hard work and a clear vision can turn aspirations into reality.
