Illegal Stalls Near Dal Lake to Be Removed
CHAMBA
In a major step to streamline and maintain cleanliness during the Manimahesh Yatra, the administration has made it mandatory for shopkeepers to obtain permission from the DFO office before setting up shops on the route from Hadsar to Dal Lake. A sanitation fee will also be charged from vendors.
The announcement was made by ADM Bharmour Vikas Sharma during a meeting held on Tuesday in Hadsar village with local shopkeepers and priests. He stated that shops along the pilgrimage route would only be allowed in accordance with NGT guidelines. Illegal shops and encroachments around Dal Lake will also be removed.
The ADM further informed that repair work on the damaged route between Hadsar and Dal Lake, which suffered extensive damage during last year’s monsoon, has already begun. Officials of the Public Works Department have been directed to restore landslide-affected stretches between Bharmour and Hadsar at the earliest.
He also said that damaged bridges at Dunali and Dhancho will be rebuilt through the Public Works and Forest Departments. During the meeting, priests and local shopkeepers shared issues faced during the Manimahesh Yatra and offered suggestions for better management. The administration assured that these suggestions would be implemented during the upcoming pilgrimage season.
Officials from various departments, local vendors, and priests of Hadsar were present at the meeting.
