Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, a village with a population of more than 2000 in Mandi district will be developed as an ideal solar village. One crore rupees will be provided to develop this village as a solar village. Villages will be made to compete with each other to select the solar village. A time period of six months has been set for this. The villages of Garodu, Bhaur, Kanaid, Dugrain, Dharanda, Khilda, Salapad, Jarol, Mahadev, Ner, Kummi, Behna, Sayog, Pandoh and Nagwain in the district have a population of more than 2000.
This information was given by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) Apurva Devgan, constituted to review the successful implementation of Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. The first meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee was held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday.
In the meeting, the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme in the district was discussed in detail. Community solar plant, rooftop plant, solar pumping system, solar lights in houses, street lights will be installed in the village in the Adarsh Solar Village.
Apoorva Devgan told that under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Bijli Yojana, the government is providing subsidy on grid connected rooftop solar power plants of up to 3 kW capacity on the roofs of domestic electricity consumers. There is a subsidy of Rs 33000 per kilowatt for up to 2 kW capacity and Rs 19800 for additional one kilowatt. He told that people can avail the benefits of the scheme by registering themselves on the online portal of PM Surya Ghar. Under the scheme, electricity produced from the rooftop of the house will be free, which consumers will be able to use to fulfill their electricity requirements. He said that after using the electricity produced from the solar rooftop plant, the excess electricity will be sent to the grid.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of HPSEVL, the implementing agency of the scheme, to do extensive publicity at the village level to make the common people aware about the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. He informed that 478 applications of 3675.05 KW capacity have been received in the district.
Project Officer Him Energy and Member Secretary of DLCC Kapil Kumar said that Him Energy has been notified by the government as the nodal agency to review the implementation of the scheme. The main components of the scheme include central financial assistance (CFA) for domestic electricity consumers, solar energy saturation in government buildings, incentives for encouraging local bodies and development of Adarsh Urja Gram, etc.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Rathore, Superintending Engineer Arun Sharma Electricity Board, District Council Member Jasbir were present in the meeting.
