· Advances technical education with Rs. 35.34 crore funding and global learning opportunities
State Government is creating new employment opportunities for youth by improving technical education, promoting skill development and connecting students with industries. In the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and rapidly changing technology, the state is focusing on practical training, digital skills and global exposure to prepare young people for future jobs.
The Department of Technical Education has launched the Takniki Rozgar Setu Portal to connect students, educational institutions and employers on a single digital platform. The portal helps students create profiles, upload their skills and certificates, search for jobs and apply online. They can also track their placement status.
So far, 164 technical institutions, 26,168 students and 97 employers have registered on the portal. These include 136 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), 18 polytechnic institutes, five engineering colleges and five pharmacy colleges. Of the registered students, 23,054 have completed skill mapping, helping identify their skills and training. The portal also aims to provide short-term work opportunities for skilled workers such as electricians and plumbers. Employers can view candidates’ profiles, recruit suitable applicants and update the department about successful placements. This digital system is expected to make recruitment easier, improve transparency and help industries find trained workers.
To help students learn about global technology and workplace practices, the state government has organised international exposure visits for technical students. A group of 30 ITI trainees from Himachal Pradesh visited Almaty, Kazakhstan. They visited the Samal Water Bottling Plant, Rakhat Chocolate Factory and Green Market. The visit helped them understand industrial operations, modern technology and workplace practices in another country. Similarly, 44 meritorious B.Tech. students from engineering colleges visited Japan as part of an educational tour. They gained first-hand exposure to technology and working methods at Tokyo Metropolitan University, JAXA Tsukuba Space Center, Cyberdyne Robotics Studio, JAL Aerospace Factory, Kyocera Factory and industries in Osaka.
The students learned about space technology, robotics and aerospace, advanced manufacturing and modern transport systems. The tour also provided opportunities for cultural exchange and helped them understand how technology is used in different industries around the world.
Along with improving students’ skills, the state government is working to modernise technical education institutions. It has released Rs. 35.34 crore for various polytechnic, engineering and ITI institutions across Himachal Pradesh to strengthen infrastructure and create better learning opportunities.
The state government is also promoting vocational education, start-ups, innovation and soft skills. These efforts aim to help students become more confident, improve their job prospects and explore opportunities for self-employment.
By connecting students with employers, improving technical institutions and providing international exposure, state government is working to build a skilled workforce for the future. These initiatives aim to create more employment opportunities, support innovation and strengthen the state’s technical and industrial development.
