    Bahra University to Host National Conference on Advanced Materials and Simulation Techniques

    Shimla, September 7

    Bahra University, Shimla Hills, will host a two-day national conference on “Advanced Materials & Simulation Techniques for Sustainable Future” on September 10 and 11, 2026. The conference is being organised by the School of Basic Sciences, Bahra University, in collaboration with the Electron Microscope Society of India (North Zone). Professor Gagan Kumar Bhargava is the Convener of the conference.

    The conference aims to bring together the latest research and developments in advanced materials science and modern simulation techniques on a common platform and facilitate discussions on their potential applications for a sustainable and better future. Scientists, researchers, academicians and students from across the country are expected to participate in the two-day event. The conference will feature keynote talks, technical sessions, poster presentations and networking opportunities, providing participants a platform to exchange ideas with experts and showcase their research work.

    The organising committee has invited abstracts from researchers, teachers, scientists and students on topics related to the conference theme. Selected research work will be presented through poster presentations and technical sessions. The conference particularly aims to provide young researchers and students with an opportunity to present their work before experts and engage in academic interaction with researchers from institutions across the country.

    Conference Convener Prof Gagan Kumar Bhargava said that the role of advanced materials and simulation techniques in achieving sustainable development is becoming increasingly important. “Such conferences provide researchers an opportunity to share their latest work, discuss emerging ideas and explore possibilities for future academic and research collaborations,” he said, while encouraging researchers, academicians and students to participate and submit their abstracts.

    He said preparations for the conference at Bahra University, Shimla Hills, are in the final stages. Participants from different parts of the country will benefit from expert lectures, technical sessions and poster presentations during the event.

    Dahi Handi celebration held at Bahra University on Janmashtami

    Waknaghat, September 3: Bahra University, Waknaghat, celebrated Janmashtami with an inter-departmental ‘Makhan Chor–Dahi Handi’ competition, in which teams from various departments participated with enthusiasm.

    Teams from Core Engineering, Hotel Management, Management, Alpha School, School of Law and Forensic Sciences took part in the competition. Students demonstrated coordination, physical strength and team spirit as they attempted to break the Dahi Handi.

    The Core Engineering team secured the first position after breaking the handi in 56 seconds. The achievement was greeted with applause and cheers from students and members of the university community.

    Vice-Chancellor Prof R.P. Nanta, Registrar Vineet Kumar and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sushil, along with deans, heads of departments, faculty members, staff and students, attended the event.

    The Janmashtami celebrations also provided an opportunity for students to recall the life and teachings of Lord Krishna and reflect on values associated with Indian culture and traditions. The university said the event aimed to promote cooperation, leadership and team spirit among students.

    Bahra University Chairman Sardar Gurwinder Singh Bahra and Vice-Chairman Gurinder Singh Bahra extended Janmashtami greetings to the university community. They appreciated the students’ participation and said such activities help develop leadership qualities, collaboration and a sense of collective responsibility among students.
