    CM announces opening of Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding School in Indora

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today unveiled and laid the foundation stone of 14 development projects worth Rs. 143 crore in Indora Assembly Constituency (AC). He also presided over the annual function of Government Degree College Indora and announced the opening of Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding School in the area.

    The Chief Minister also announced the opening of DSP Office at Indora, setting up of 33 KV Sub Station at Moki (Surdwan), Tourism Hotel/Unity Mall at National Highway Damtal (Mandir Land),  construction of Auditorium/Indoor Stadium at Indora, improvement and widening of Mohtali-Indora road with three bridges, setting up of Gowardhan Unit at Damtal Gaushala, Cold Store at Kandrori, shifting of HRTC workshop/RM office from Pathankot to Dhangu, opening of Veterinary Sub-Division at Indora.  He also announced to start new HRTC bus service from Pathankot to Chandigarh via Damtal, Indora, Rey, Khatiad, Talwada, Amb, Una, announced notifying Primary Health Centre Hagwal and Primary Health Centre Kangreri, up-gradation of veterinary dispensary Dugh-Bakshian tehsil Indora to Veterinary Hospital, construction of bridge over Chakkikhad (Damtal to Majra, Mohtali Kharad) and construction of Suradwan to Malkana bridge.

    Our priority to settle pending revenue cases in speedy manner: CM

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over the Monday Meeting of Administrative Secretaries here today said that more than 65000 mutation cases have been disposed off till now.

    It was for the first time that such Lok Adalats were held in the State due to the initiative of the Government.  The first Lok Adalat was held in the last week of October, 2023 and thereby again in December, 2023 and now on 4th and 5th January, 2024, wherein 11420 mutation cases and 1217 partition cases were settled.

    The Chief Minister said that the fourth Revenue Lok Adalat would be held on 30th and 31st January, 2024. He said that it was for the first time that  200 percent  disposal rate of partition cases was observed as 3544 partition cases were attested from 3rd December, 2023 to 5th January, 2024 against the 1823 new cases which  came for disposal for the same period.

    There was overwhelming response to the Revenue Lok Adalats and the State Government has accorded priority to settle the pending revenue cases in time bound manner, said Sh. Sukhu and added that the present State Government was committed to offer quality services to the people of the State at their door steps.

    The Government was also making concerted efforts to strengthen the tourism infrastructure in the State. The Chief Minister directed to offer the facilities to QR Code Payments at all the Tourism Hotels, Himachal Bhawan, Himachal Sadan and Rest Houses of various departments of the State Government. He directed the tourism department to improve the customers’ services being offered to the tourists as well.

    The Chief Minister said that the State Government has introduced the first phase of Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna, offering e taxis permits to the youth of the State in order to provide self employment avenues. He also reviewed the status of e-charging stations being set up to facilitate the e-vehicle owners. He said that this step would go a long way in preserving the clean environment of the State and making Himachal Pradesh a  Green Energy State by 31st March, 2026.

    The Chief Minister said that the second phase under this Yojna is also under way offering solar power projects of 100 kw, 200kw and 500 kw to the Himachali youth by providing them financial assistance to start their self employment ventures. He said that under the scheme, the beneficiary will have to pay just 10 percent of the amount as security deposit whereas 70% bank loan will be facilitated by the Government and the government will also provide 30% equity. He directed to formulate a scheme for offering minimum assured income to the farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna.

    He also reviewed the ambitious projects of various departments and directed to complete them in a time bound manner.

    Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and senior administrative officers were present on the occasion amongst others.

    Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over the International Women’s Day State Level function here today said that women were the pillars of the society and when women were empowered, the whole world was empowered.

    Organized by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, several series of awareness programmes were being organised all over the State from 1st to 8th March 2023 to apprise the women folk on sensitive issues such as domestic violence, drug abuse, women persecution at work places etc. Besides, the Social Justice and Empowerment department has also organised various programmes to highlight the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.

    While extending greetings on International Women’s Day, the Chief Minister said that the equality of women’s matters most. Today, the women were equally contributing in the progress of the State as per their male counterparts and they need to be supported, as with the collective efforts of all we can achieve the unachievable. The Chief Minister said that women have been contributing since times immemorial for bringing social change with their hidden capabilities and Shakti (power).

    “Women have made a remarkable contribution in giving direction to the society and the civilizations can only progress when women are equally equated with men and given due respect” said Sh. Sukhu. No society can progress without the contribution of women as they play an important role as a mother, daughter, wife and sister and contribute immensely in shaping the society, he said.

    The Congress-led governments have always been considerate towards women power. Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi paved the way for 33 percent reservation for women in panchayats and local bodies through the 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments. Although it was opposed by many, Rajiv Gandhi was determined to strengthen the women folk and increase their participation in Nation building. Today around 57 percent of the women in Himachal were representing the Panchayats and local bodies.

    The Chief Minister cited various examples wherein the women have immensely contributed towards the development of Nation, may it be in the field of Politics, Sports, Culture, Business, medical, engineering, etc.

    The Chief Minister also announced to increase the amount of Himachal Pradesh Mahila Vikas Protsahan Puraskar from Rs 21,000 to Rs 1 lakh and district level awards from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000.

    On this occasion, he also honoured the women who have excelled in various fields. Those who were honoured with Himachal Pradesh Mahila Vikas Protsahan Puraskar were Free lance journalists, Dev Kanya Thakur, social worker Sangeeta Khurana in the field of drug addiction and Dr. Anvesha Negi, working in the health sector, for their contribution in eradicating malnutrition among children

    The Chief Minister also honoured women from the districts for their remarkable contribution in sports and other fields. The awardees includes Para player Rachna Kumari of Bilaspur district, Ayushi Bhandari and Mala Bhagti of Kinnaur district, writer Rekha Vashisht of Mandi district, International women cricketer Renuka Singh Thakur in her absence, and Suman and Manju the specially abled from Shimla for Para sports, mountaineer Baljit Kaur from Solan and International skier Aanchal Thakur from Kullu. The Chief Minister also formally launched the website of Sukh-Ashray Kosh and the Him-Poorak Poshahar Pushti App and visited the exhibition set up by SHGs.

    Health, Social Justice and Empowerment and Labour and Employment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil said that various schemes focused on developing a sense of self-respect among women will be launched in the state. He said that the state government is starting new schemes for the development of women and children.

    A delegation of the British High Commission led by Ms. Arina Cosac, Head of Climate Change Policy met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today.

    On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Himachal is moving forward to become a Green Energy State by 2025 and e-mobility will play a vital role to achieve the target. He said the inputs of the survey conducted in Shimla city under India-UK PACT will help to develop it as a Smart City.

    Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also gave his valuable suggestions during interaction.

    India-UK PACT provides funding for Research Triangle Institute (RTI) to identify policy and institutional gaps around transitioning public transport to electric vehicles, both at State and city levels. Overcoming these identified constraints is crucial for facilitating the shift towards sustainable inclusive growth.
    Ms Arina Cosac said that baseline survey was conducted in Shimla city on e-mobility, multi level transportation and ropeways etc.
    Principal Advisor to Chief Minister (IT & Innovation), Gokul Butail, Principal Secretary Transport, RD Nazeem, Managing Director HRTC, Sandeep Kumar, Director Transport Anupam Kashyap, Senior Advisor, Economics, Climate and Development BHC Madhu Mishra, Director Power and RE ICF, Sushmita Ajwani were also present on the occasion.
    Earlier the delegation had meetings with the Transport department, Smart city, MC, Ropeways Corporation and HPSEB.

    High Tech Hospitals with modern facilities to be established in each Medical Block: CM

    The State Government will provide world class health care facilities to the people of the State at their door steps and High Tech Hospitals with all modern facilities would be established in each Medical Block. This was stated by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while reviewing the working of the Health Department here today.

    These hospitals will have the capacity of 50-100 beds and have specialist doctors with adequate para-medical staff and high diagnostic labs, he said adding that strengthening of block level hospitals would pave a way to provide specialized medical care to the patients.

    The 50 bedded critical care Blocks would be set up in government medical colleges alongwith the hospitals at Dharamshala, Kinnaur, Bilaspur, Una, Solan, Manali, Kullu and Mandi, said the Chief Minister. Adequate staff strength with specialized doctors, allied health professionals and supporting staff would be deployed in these health institutions to provide best emergency health care facilities to the patients, he added.

    The State Government is committed to introduce modern technology in the health sector and five specialist robotic surgery facilities would be started in government medical colleges at Hamirpur, Tanda (Kangra), IGMC Shimla and Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties Chamiyana, reiterated Sh. Sukhu. Medical college Chamba, Nahan and Ner Chowk would have one robotic surgery facility in the first phase, said the Chief Minister adding that 5G technology would be introduced for providing modern technology health care facilities. He said that there would be no shortage of funds for the health sector.

    The construction work of Hostels and Type-IV residences of Chamba Medical College would be completed by April, 2023 while the construction works of Hospital Block by July, 2023, he said.

    The state Government was committed to provide the best working atmosphere to the doctors in view of better delivery of services, said the Chief Minister. Exposure visits for doctors would be conducted for knowledge sharing with the experts of premier health care institutions of the country, he added.

    Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi, Principal Advisor (IT and Innovation), Gokul Butail, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Bharat Khera, Secretary, Health M. Sudha Devi, MD NHM, Hemraj Bairwa, Director Health Services, Dr. Gopal Beri and other senior officers of the health department were present in the meeting amongst others.

    A push for greener initiatives has led many nations and Governments to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) in their fleet. Notable for their fuel efficiency, EVs can be a cost-effective way to reduce operating expenses. Besides lower fuel costs, EVs also serve as a greener alternative to gas or diesel vehicles. By eliminating exhaust, they can reduce the carbon emissions.

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s has made it clear that in order to protect and conserve the pristine environment of Himachal Pradesh, the Government will go for electric vehicles in a big way. For this, the State Government has decided to implement a new Electric Vehicle Policy with innovative ideas in the State.

    A concrete step of radical change has been taken keeping in mind the negative impact of the transport sector on the environment besides long run impact of green house gases and rising fuel prices. Under this policy, to start with, operation of electric vehicles will be promoted in the Secretariat in the coming days and thereafter the use of electric vehicles will be increased in public transport services as well.

    In order to motivate the people to go for electric vehicles, charging stations will be set up with proper parameters in different parts of the State. In the initial phase, this facility will be provided in various government institutions of the state including Government Secretariat and in Himachal Bhawans and other major buildings outside the state.

    The State Government is also preparing a plan to replace vehicles of zero book value with electric vehicles in a phased manner in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation. Under this policy, electric buses are also to be included in the corporation’s fleet. The new electric vehicle policy will go a long way in conservation of environment, which will not only benefit the present but also the coming generations.
