    Solan, 1 April 2026

A tragic incident on March 28, 2026, involving the death of 21-year-old Nitin Chauhan has led to a comprehensive investigation and a series of corrective measures by Shoolini University, even as authorities continue to examine all aspects of the case.

According to official police information from Police Station Sadar Solan, Nitin Chauhan, a resident of Rohru in Shimla district, was brought to the Regional Hospital (RH) Solan after allegedly attempting suicide at his rented accommodation in Madhuban Colony. Upon arrival, he was declared dead in the emergency ward.

Initial medical examination confirmed a ligature mark on the neck, with no other injury found on the body, indicating death by hanging. During the spot inspection, police recovered a mobile phone, a rope, and a diary from the room. The diary reportedly contained a suicide note in which the deceased mentioned being troubled by personal issues.

Police stated that no suspicion was raised by individuals present at the scene regarding foul play. The body was later handed over to the family after post-mortem, and forensic evidence, including viscera and other materials, has been sent to SFSL Junga for further examination. Proceedings in the case have been initiated under Section 194 of BNSS, and further investigation is ongoing.

Students also raised broader concerns regarding placement assurances, claiming that the university’s commitment of “100% placement” had not been fully met. Additionally, they expressed dissatisfaction over the administration’s response to student grievances, calling for greater transparency and accountability.

The administration also initiated internal corrective actions. Responsibilities were withdrawn from Avni Khosla, and a high-level inquiry committee has been constituted to independently review the circumstances surrounding the case, including placement processes and student support systems.

The university has assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies and reiterated its commitment to transparency throughout the investigation.

Focus on Reform and Student Welfare

Amid the crisis, the institution has emphasized its resolve to strengthen its systems. Measures are being considered to improve placement transparency, enhance communication with students, and establish more robust grievance redressal mechanisms.

University officials stated that student well-being remains their top priority and that lessons from this incident will guide future reforms to create a more supportive academic environment.

The incident has sparked wider discussions around student mental health, employment expectations, and institutional accountability in higher education. While investigations continue, both authorities and the university appear focused on ensuring justice, clarity, and meaningful reforms.

  • CNI Special Interview : Bahra University Preparing Students for AI Era, Says VC Prof.(Dr.) Krishna Kant Dave

CNI Special Interview : Bahra University Preparing Students for AI Era, Says VC Prof.(Dr.) Krishna Kant Dave

    PRENEETA SHARMA

In an era of rapid technological innovation and fierce global rivalry, universities are under growing pressure to provide students with future-ready skills, such as critical thinking, adaptability, and digital literacy, to ensure they can thrive in the evolving job market. In an exclusive interview with our digital media platform CRAZY NEWS INDIA, Prof. (Dr.) Krishna Kant Dave, Bahra University’s Vice Chancellor, expressed his desire to reform higher education, boost placements, and prioritize students’ mental health.

Here are excerpts taken from the interview with Prof. (Dr.) Krishna Kant Dave, Bahra University Vice Chancellor

Could you share your vision for Bahra University in the upcoming years

The current era is highly competitive, especially with the expanding influence of technology such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. “We are living in a very challenging time where every student must prepare to compete globally. Recently, a major event in Delhi discussed the impact of artificial intelligence in India, with nearly three lakh participants. Looking at such technological transformations, Bhara University is preparing students for the new era.

To tackle these changes, the university introduced advanced academic offerings through its Alpha School.

Courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and other emerging technologies are being introduced to help students remain competitive in the rapidly evolving job market. In addition, programs such as DBA and specialized B.Tech degrees have also been launched to provide advanced learning opportunities.

How is the university preparing students for the fast-changing global work market

Academic knowledge alone is insufficient for success in today’s society. The three factors are critical for student development: mentality, soulset, and heartset. Students must build a strong mindset to face obstacles, and universities must provide access to the most recent technology breakthroughs. Along with academic study, Bahra Universityemphasizes confidence, adaptability, and overall personality development.

At Bahra University, we equip students with training, technological exposure, and opportunities for personal development to ensure their preparedness for future job prospects.”

What additional courses will Bhara University offer, and how many already exist

Bahra University presently functions through 16 academic schools, providing programs in several disciplines like forensic science, microbiology, embroidery, hotel management, law, physiotherapy, and allied health sciences. The Alpha School offers programs such as BBA, BCA, MCA, and several fields of B.Tech.

Looking ahead, the university plans on offering new courses in developing disciplines such as robots, gaming technology, 3D technology, and the Internet of Things (IoT).Himachal Pradesh is well-known for its tourism industry, and the university aims to launch tourism and medical tourism-related degrees too.

How Bahra University is strengthening placement opportunities for students

Placements are still one of the most essential components of higher education, and Bahra University has taken many initiatives to improve job prospects for its students. The institution has collaborated with training groups like Ikigai to offer skill development programs. Soft skills, communication, and personality development are all given special priority.

I recruited around seven faculty members who specialize in soft skills training, as communication plays a crucial role. Many rural students are talented, but they often lack confidence in expressing themselves. These training programs help them bridge that gap. In addition to soft skills training, students receive specific coaching in their core areas to help them improve their professional skills.

How the University Supports Student Mental Health and Holistic Development

Acknowledging that student mental health has become a major concern, our university has set up counseling services on campus. We have three professional counselors in the university who work with students to assist them in dealing with mental health concers

Apart from counseling, Bahra University promotes yoga, meditation, and art of living programs. These activities help students in becoming responsible adults with well-rounded personalities.

With over 30 years of experience in the education sector, I feel that such methods not only improve students’ mental health but also help them evolve into better people. The university also encourages students to participate in NCC and NSS programs, which allow them to contribute to society and the country.

Sharing views on Student Support System Initiative:Anurag Awasthi ,Director Student Welfare Bahra University says

To assist students in overcoming the different obstacles they encounter throughout their academic journey, from the first to the last year, the university has created a student support system. Students frequently confront a variety of challenges during their studies, including financial, academic, examination, training, and hostel facilities. To solve these issues efficiently, the university has launched a new project dubbed the Single Window System, also known as the Student Care Desk. Under this setup, students do not have to visit different departments to address their complaints. Instead, they can go to the Student Care Desk, where their concerns are handled all in one area.

The Student Care Desk’s responsibility is to coordinate with the appropriate departments on behalf of the students. When a student registers a complaint or request, a ticket is issued, and the issue is tracked until it is handled. With this project, we hope to ensure that every student’s complaint is properly addressed and resolved in a methodical manner, making their academic path smoother and more supportive.

How Himachal’s Heritage will shapes student life in Bahra University

Himachal Pradesh is widely known as Devbhumi, the land of temples and spiritual heritage. It is believed to be the dwelling place of Lord Shiva and many other deities. Because of this deep spiritual and cultural background, the state has developed a very unique identity. The culture here is steeped in tradition, commitment, and discipline. People have strong values, respect for traditions, and a sense of belonging in society. This cultural context naturally influences pupils’ mindsets and behaviors.

After spending time in Himachal, I realized that it is absolutely unique in comparison to many other places in India. The sense of oneness, simplicity, and kindness among people is very strong here. This spiritual and cultural environment greatly influences the character and values of the young people growing up in the state. As a result, students studying here are frequently disciplined, observant, and respectful. These abilities enable individuals to excel not only intellectually, but also professionally and personally. This cultural backdrop distinguishes our institutions and students from those in other places.

What makes Bahra University different from others

The university has developed its own teaching culture and educational philosophy. It is conveniently located near National Highway-5, offering excellent connectivity and accessibility. However, the true distinction lies in its comprehensive approach to education. We are not only preparing students for careers but also empowering them to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.

Another key factor is our strong commitment to social responsibility. We actively participate in social initiatives such as nutrition awareness campaigns, drug de-addiction programs, and various community welfare activities.

The university administration has also proposed adopting around 50 villages. In each village, we plan to appoint a university representative who will assist local residents with different needs. This may include helping them complete online forms, understand government schemes, and access essential services.Through this initiative, we aim to provide meaningful support to rural communities. This strong connection with society and community development is what truly distinguishes Bahra University from many other institutions.

Why students should choose Bahra University: A Message to Future Learners

“Bahra University Is for You.” We are here to help you succeed in life. Bahra University prioritizes outstanding education, great placement possibilities, and student growth.
