    Shoolini University celebrated Engineering Day to mark the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of India’s greatest engineers, fondly remembered as the Father of Modern Engineering in India.

    The occasion highlighted M. Visvesvaraya’s pioneering contributions to dams, irrigation systems, and flood protection projects, which played a crucial role in laying the foundation of modern infrastructure in India. Faculty members and students recalled his vision, dedication, and engineering brilliance that continue to inspire generations.

    The celebration also recognised the invaluable role of engineers in nation-building and technological advancement. Prof Ashish Khosla Director Innovations and Marketing Shoolini University emphasised that Engineering Day served as a reminder of the responsibility engineers carry in shaping a sustainable and progressive future through innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.

    The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla successfully conducted its first workshop under the HPNLU Trial Advocacy Competition (Criminal), 2025. The workshop, titled “Filing of First Information Report under BNSS, 2023: Practice and Procedure”, was organised by the Clinical Legal Education Centre of the University.

     

    The resource person for the session was Shri Dushyant Sarpal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Road Safety, Directorate of Transport, Himachal Pradesh, a seasoned police officer with a diverse and distinguished career. In his address, Shri Sarpal shared valuable insights into the practical aspects of drafting and registering an FIR under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, emphasising the precision, procedural compliance, and investigative importance of this initial step in criminal proceedings. His deliberations provided students with a rare blend of legal understanding and practical experience from the perspective of law enforcement, thereby enriching their comprehension of the criminal justice process.

     

    This workshop marks the commencement of a ten-month long intra-university Trial Advocacy Competition—a first-of-its-kind initiative at HPNLU, conceived to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure by simulating the stages of a criminal trial. The programme aims to equip students with the skills, discipline, and ethical grounding essential for courtroom practice.

     

    The workshop was organised by Prof. (Dr.) Girjesh Shukla, Director, Clinical Legal Education Centre, HPNLU Shimla and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Bharat Barowalia, Workshop Coordinator. This workshop has set a strong foundation for the forthcoming stages of the HPNLU Trial Advocacy Competition (Criminal), 2025, and reflects the University’s continued commitment to providing its students with skill-based and experiential legal education.

    Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2025 with great fervour and enthusiasm. Organized by the HPNLU Sports Committee, the celebration featured a series of spirited exhibition matches in cricket, men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, futsal, badminton, and table tennis. The event witnessed active and energetic participation from students across the University, promoting the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition.

     

    To mark the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, also administered the Fit India Pledge to the students and faculty members, reaffirming the University’s dedication to fostering a culture of fitness, wellness, and healthy living on campus.

     

    National Sports Day is celebrated annually on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, widely regarded as one of India’s greatest sporting icons. The day serves to highlight the importance of sports and physical activity in building a healthier and more cohesive society.

     

    The exhibition matches conducted not only showcased the athletic prowess of the students but also reinforced the University’s commitment to holistic education. The initiative aimed to instil values of sportsmanship and physical well-being among the students, aligning with the vision of the University to foster all-round development.     • Will give the message of Clean Himachal, Green Himachal!

     

    Like every year, this year also a two-day grand ‘BBN Bike Ride’ is being organized on the occasion of Independence Day at the famous IEC University located at Atal Shiksha Kunj, Solan. This program will give the message of respect for the motherland to the youth. So far about 70 bikers have registered themselves in this program based on the theme ‘Clean Himachal, Green Himachal’.

     

    This grand bike rally will be inaugurated in Delhi on 14th August from where Delhi’s famous D R E R (Delhi Royal Enfield Riders) group will be sent towards IEC University with the message of respect for the motherland. All the necessary security arrangements have been completed for this rally.

     

    Under this program, on 15th August, everyone will hoist the national flag together in the premises of IEC University and many cultural programs based on patriotism will be presented by the students. After this, Delhi Royal Enfield Riders, in association with IEC University, will take out a rally in BBN and spread the message of Clean Himachal, Green Himachal.

     

    This program will be organized by IEC University in collaboration with Ignite Helmet and Steelbird Helmet, Baddi, whose aim is to inspire two-wheeler riders to wear helmets while riding their bikes.

    • Governor highlights role of ethics, innovation and youth in Nation building

     Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, celebrated its 56th Foundation Day today with great enthusiasm and academic fervour. Governor and Chancellor of the University Shiv Pratap Shukla graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and extended his warm greetings to the faculty, students, alumni and the staff.

    Addressing the gathering, the Governor lauded the university’s rich legacy of over five decades and its consistent contributions to academic excellence and social progress. He said that a university was not merely a center for higher education but center for learning, innovation and character-building. Urging the academic community to remain focused on value-based learning, he stressed the importance of research and innovation matching global standards.

    Expressing satisfaction over the institution’s growth, the Governor noted that the university, which began with only eight departments, has now expanded to include 52 departments and currently serves over 7,000 students and 1,100 research scholars.

    The Governor appreciated the establishment of five new interdisciplinary research and innovation centers in the University. He called upon faculty and students to actively engage with the objectives of the National Education Policy to make higher education more inclusive, modern, and impactful.

    Highlighting his ongoing campaign for a “Drug-Free Himachal,” he urged the youth to play a proactive role in spreading awareness and fostering a healthy, addiction-free society. He also expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of natural disasters in the state and called for integrating environmental sustainability into all developmental frameworks.

    The Governor said that this university  has produced prominent leaders in the fields of politics, science, law, literature, sports etc. and urged everyone to contribute towards building a developed India by the year 2047.

    On the occasion, the Governor released the university’s student magazine Parisaamvaad, the university journal Himshikhar and a report on anti-drug activities. Cultural presentations included a folk song on drug abuse by Dr. Madan Jhalta and a performance by students Navneeta and Lakshya on the same theme.

    Prof. Mahavir Singh, Vice Chancellor welcomed the Governor and spoke about the university’s vision of holistic development. He elaborated on the concept behind the newly established interdisciplinary centres which integrate diverse fields such as technology, law, management, social sciences and mathematics. He also emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence and innovation in the academic landscape.

    Prof. Rajinder Verma, Pro Vice-Chancellor also welcomed the dignitaries and shared the university’s milestones.

    A key highlight of the day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Himachal Pradesh University and the National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The MoU was signed by the University Registrar and Colonel Manoram Yadav on behalf of NIDM.

    A presentation was also made on the university’s newly established Centres of Excellence, viz: Centre for Green Energy and Nanotechnology, Himalayan Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience, Centre for Artificial Intelligence on Cyber Physical Systems, Ramanujan Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems and Indian Mathematics and Centre for Pahari Culture and Heritage.

    Dr. Sumit Goel, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Delhi, also addressed the gathering and spoke on cancer eradication strategies.

    The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Gyan Sagar Negi, Registrar of the University.

    Rameshwar Thakur, Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and other prominent dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

    Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, has entered into a partnership with Mahindra Summit Agrisciences Ltd. to foster collaborative research, knowledge exchange and academic cooperation in the fields of horticulture, forestry and allied disciplines.

    The MoU was formalized this week between Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University and Sandeep Gadre, CEO of Mahindra Summit Agrisciences Ltd. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of university statutory officers, heads of departments, and representatives from Mahindra Summit, including Sagar Daroch (DGM, North and East India) and Lalit Kalia (Associate Field Biologist).

    The partnership aims to promote the exchange of expertise, knowledge and resources between the two institutions. As part of the collaboration, training and internship opportunities will be provided to students and researchers of the university, offering them hands-on experience and industry exposure in the agribusiness sector.

    Mahindra Summit Agrisciences Ltd. is a leading organization in the agribusiness sector, specializing in crop care, seed production, micro-irrigation, and agri-commodity exports.

    The MoU also includes provisions for organizing joint workshops, seminars, and conferences on topics of mutual interest. Both parties will jointly identify and undertake research projects, including doctoral research, in frontier areas of horticulture, forestry, and allied fields. Mahindra Summit has agreed to fund selected Ph.D. research projects under this initiative.

    In addition, the university will recognize industry experts from Mahindra Summit as adjunct faculty, and will facilitate testing of the company’s machinery and products on campus, as per university norms. The collaboration also includes the commercialization of research outcomes and innovations developed jointly.

    Mahindra Summit will support these collaborative efforts through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by providing technical expertise and resources to execute joint projects and promote knowledge sharing. The MoU is valid for an initial period of three years and may be extended by mutual agreement.

    Expressing his satisfaction at the signing of the MoU, Prof. Chandel said, “This collaboration marks a significant step towards bridging the gap between academia and industry. Together, we aim to develop practical solutions for farmers’ challenges while equipping our students with industry-ready skills and knowledge.”

    Shoolini University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Southampton, UK, aimed at strengthening academic and research collaborations between the two institutions. A high-level delegation from the University of Southampton, including its President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mark E. Smith and Vice-President (International and Engagement) Prof. Andrew Atherton, visited the university for the two-day engagement, coordinated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Shoolini University.
    The delegates toured key research and innovation facilities, including the Vardhman Research Lab, Nanotechnology Lab, IPR Cell, and the AI and Future’s Center. They formally inaugurated the Centre for Creative Technology along with Shoolini officials.
    They were also briefed on the university’s sustainability initiatives and eco-friendly infrastructure.
    The Shoolini Centre of Creative Technology is a significant step towards creating a space where creativity and technology intersect. The centre has started as an academic and creative initiative. It aims to support students, faculty, and professionals in the fields of product design, digital media, animation, user experience, and emerging technologies.
    The centre’s vision is to help India become a global leader in creative excellence by developing a new generation of technologists, entrepreneurs, and media professionals through strong academic and industry-based learning.
    Prof. Mark E. Smith said the two institutions aim to work together in research, innovation, and teaching. “AI is reshaping academic and cultural engagement globally,” he added.
    Prof.  Andrew Atherton praised Shoolini’s approach to innovation and sustainability, stating, “We see significant potential in collaborating on education and research initiatives.”
    Vice Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla said the partnership comes at a time when global academic landscapes are evolving rapidly. “Institutions need to be agile and responsive to change,” he said.
    Chancellor Prof. P.K. Khosla added that research remains central to Shoolini’s academic mission.
    The MoU outlines collaboration in areas such as student and faculty exchange, joint research, dual-degree programmes, summer schools, and academic conferences. The MOU was signed by Prof. Atul Khosla and Prof. Mark E. Smith in the presence of university leadership.
    Dr. Rozy Dhanta, Deputy Director, Office of International Affairs, who facilitated the visit, said the partnership would offer new opportunities for both institutions. “This is a step forward in providing global exposure to our students and faculty,” she said.

    An International Conference on Applied Artificial Intelligence and Innovation (AAIIC), organized by Yogananda School of AI, Computers, and Data Sciences (YSAICDS), began at Shoolini University today.
    The two-day conference has brought together experts from academia and industry around the world to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
    Dr. Piyush Sewal, Assistant Professor at YSAICDS, opened the event by welcoming all dignitaries, speakers, and participants. Prof. Virender Rihani, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, began the proceedings with an address highlighting the growing importance of AI in both industry and education.
    Chancellor and Chief Patron of AAIIC 2025, Prof. PK Khosla, said in his inaugural speech that AI is in high demand across sectors and that this conference offers a global platform for experts to work together on real-world problems using AI technologies.
    Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University, Prof. Atul Khosla, said the conference promotes an interdisciplinary approach to AI, combining technology, science, and societal needs. He added that AI is central to many activities at Shoolini University, and the institution is making strong progress in developing AI-based solutions for India and beyond.

    Several keynote speakers from different countries shared their insights during the conference. These included Dr. Sanjay Misra (University of Alcala, Norway), Dr. Shailendra Rathore (Abertay University, UK), Dr. Yerzhan Kerimbekov (Zhanibekov University, Kazakhstan), Dr. Laura Baitokayeva (Nazarbayev Intellectual School, Kazakhstan), and Dr. Tomáš Čech (Palacký University, Czech Republic). They spoke on various applications of AI, including energy, education, ethics, and system design.
    Industry leaders from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Mr. Apoorv Aggarwal and Mr. Rajit Sikka, also spoke on the role of AI in business. Their sessions focused on how AI is currently being used in areas like automation, manufacturing, and enterprise systems.
    The event has been organized by Prof. Pankaj Vaidya and Dr. Gaurav Gupta, who has played a key role in planning and organizing the conference. AAIIC 2025 will continue tomorrow with more sessions and discussions on current and future developments in Artificial Intelligence.

    The serene campus of Shoolini University, Solan, has been infused with divine energy as more than 350 devotees from across India converged here for a special three-day spiritual retreat organised by the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) in collaboration with Shoolini University.

    The 3-day event, which started from today, marks the second spiritual retreat by YSS at the university and has witnessed overwhelming participation despite challenging weather conditions.

    Founded by Paramhansa Yogananda, the renowned author of Autobiography of a Yogi, the Yogoda Satsanga Society has been guiding spiritual seekers since 1917 with its headquarters in Ranchi. The current retreat, being held in collaboration with Yogoda Satsanga Dhyan Kendra, Solan, has brought together spiritual aspirants, including faculty, students, and senior officials of Shoolini University, under one roof for an enriching experience.

    Three revered Swamijis from YSS Swami Shradhananda Ji, Swami Chaitanyananda Ji, and Swami Nischalananda Ji are leading the spiritual sessions during the retreat. The extensive programme features guided meditation, classes on ancient meditation techniques, Energisation Exercises, soul-stirring bhajan sessions, inspiring video screenings, and How to Live talks designed to help devotees integrate spiritual wisdom into daily life.

    The retreat will culminate with the Kriya Yoga Diksha (Initiation) Ceremony on Sunday, July 6, a sacred milestone for those ready to deepen their spiritual practice.

     

    Prof. P.K. Khosla, Chancellor Shoolini University and a devoted follower of YSS, expressed his joy over the event’s success and the growing spiritual culture on campus. He stated,

    The Yogoda Satsanga Dhyan Kendra in Solan has played a pivotal role in spreading the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda in the region. Established in 1991 by Hari Krishan Bhardwaj, the Dhyan Kendra received a significant boost when Smt. Prakash Wati Saxena generously donated her mansion near Jawahar Park, Solan, to YSS in 2006, providing a dedicated space for spiritual seekers.
