THDC India Limited organized a State Level Painting Competition-2023 on Energy Conservation for the school students of Uttarakhand state at the Corporate Office in Rishikesh. This event, conducted under the aegis of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, reflects THDC’s pivotal role as the Nodal Agency for Uttarakhand in the National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, highlighted the effective collaboration between THDC, the Ministry of Power, BEE, State Government, and other stakeholders in ensuring the campaign’s success.
Vishnoi informed that a total number of 1,69,787 students from 283 schools from various districts of Uttarakhand enthusiastically participated in the State Level Competition organized by THDC exceeding the previous year’s count of 1,50,388 students.
Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) THDC India Limited, presided over the award ceremony as Chief Guest, presenting First, Second, and Third Prizes of Rs. 50,000/-, Rs. 30,000/-, Rs. 20,000/-, and 10 consolation awards of Rs. 7,500/- to winners in both Group A (Class 5th, 6th, and 7th) and Group B (Class 8th, 9th, and 10th). From Group-A, Miss. Shatakshi Vatsh student of Acharayakulam Haridwar secured first position, Miss Arushi Singh, Acharayakulam Haridwar secured second and Sh. Dev Singh, a student of St. Mary’s Sr Sec School secured the third position. From Group-B, Sh. Ronit Raj, Acharayakulam Haridwar, Miss. Aarohi Chaudhary, St. Mary’s Sr Sec School and Sh. Yakshraj Singh from Acharayakulam Haridwar secured second and third positions.
During his address, Shallinder Singh underscored the importance of energy conservation and urged mindful and deliberate energy utilization. He emphasized that the children’s paintings revolved around themes like “One Earth, Many Efforts” and “LiFE – Mindful and Deliberate Utilization, Instead of Mindless and Destructive Consumption.” Sh. Singh stressed that the themes of this competition reflected the urgent need for responsible energy practices. He mentioned that as the future of the nation, children should learn and champion these principles.
Sh. Singh informed that the first three winners of Group A and Group B will participate in the National Level Painting Competition to be organized in New Delhi. Sh. Singh also shared the previous year’s achievement, where a participant from Uttarakhand state won First Prize in the prestigious National Level Painting Competition organized in Delhi under Group A Category.
