Nadaun: Three youths aged between 20 and 23 years were swept away while bathing in the Beas river near Bhadroli village in the Jwalamukhi area adjoining Nadaun on Sunday.
According to information received, the youths had gathered near the under-construction four-lane bridge over the Beas River as it was a holiday. While chatting near the riverbank, some of them entered the water to bathe. Suddenly, three youths were caught in the strong current and began to drift away.
On hearing their cries, friends and nearby residents rushed to their aid and managed to rescue two of them from drowning. However, one youth remains untraced.
A large number of local residents gathered at the spot after the incident was reported. All the youths are said to be residents of nearby villages. Search operations have been underway for nearly two hours to trace the missing youth.
