Shimla, the queen of mountains, is fully prepared for the New Year celebrations. Numerous tourists from outside states have reached Shimla to celebrate the New Year. Almost all the hotels in the city are completely packed. Special arrangements have been made in the hotels for the New Year celebrations. Dance and music programs are being organized in the hotels of the Tourism Corporation. Apart from this, arrangements have been made for the entertainment of tourists in private hotels as well.
However, there is no arrangement for the entertainment of tourists on the ridge -ground this time. Shimla’s Winter Carnival has been postponed due to the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In such a situation, there will be no program for the celebration of the New Year on the Ridge grounds.
At the same time, tourists are reaching Shimla with the hope of snowfall, but the weather in Shimla will be absolutely clear on January 1. The Meteorological Department has predicted snowfall and rain in the state from January 3 to 5. At the same time, tourists arriving in Shimla are also disappointed due to the lack of snowfall. Tourists say that they have come to Shimla to celebrate the New Year and want to celebrate the New Year amidst snowfall here, but the weather here remains absolutely clear. They say that if there is snowfall in Kufri and Narkanda, they will go there to celebrate the New Year.
Occupancy in hotels has reached 90 percent. All hotels are expected to be packed on New Year. Due to the celebration of the New Year, the markets will also remain open till midnight. The Chief Minister has also instructed the policemen not to be strict with the tourists.
Numerous tourists are arriving in the capital, Shimla, from outside states to celebrate the New Year. In such a situation, police personnel have been deployed at various places to avoid problems like traffic jams in Shimla city, and if the parking in the city gets completely packed, then as an alternative, the district administration will also make arrangements to park the vehicles on the roadside.
SP Shimla ,Sanjeev Gandhi said, “Preparations for the new year are complete. Officers and police personnel have been deployed at various places for security and traffic. More than 300 personnel have been assigned the responsibility of security. The city has been divided into 5 sectors. Tourists will not be allowed to face any kind of traffic-related problems. If any tourist or local person faces any problem, he can contact the police. The police are fully prepared to help the people.”
