A tragic road accident in Kinnaur district on Sunday claimed the life of a woman, while three others were injured. The accident occurred on the Palingche road when a Tata Punch vehicle went out of control and plunged into a gorge. The injured have been referred to Rampur after receiving first aid.
According to reports, on Sunday morning at around 10 am, a Tata Punch vehicle (HP 25A-5008) was traveling from Karcham towards Sangla. Near Palingche, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll down into a gorge approximately 150 feet deep. Four people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Upon receiving news of the accident, local residents and a police team rushed to the spot. All the injured were rescued and immediately taken to the Community Health Center in Sangla. There, Dhanwati, wife of Ajit Singh, a resident of Shong in Kinnaur district, succumbed to her injuries. The seriously injured driver, Jeevan Singh, son of Heerpal Singh, a resident of Gharshu (Nichar), Mohan Singh, a resident of Kamru, and Kanta Devi, a resident of Shong, were given first aid by doctors and then referred to Rampur hospital.
Sangla Police Station इंचार्ज Devendra Nath confirmed the incident, stating that the police reached the spot, took the body into custody, registered a case, and initiated an investigation. The local administration has provided immediate relief of ₹25,000 to the family of the deceased woman and ₹5,000 each to the injured. Also read:
