Shimla:
In a dramatic turn of events, the ACJM in his residence at Shimla, granted transit remand of all three accused by allowing them to be taken to Delhi for further legal proceedings. The accused will be produced before a magistrate in Delhi, and a detailed media briefing on the case is expected from Delhi Police today.
However, despite the court’s clear order, the situation witnessed multiple disruptions. After obtaining transit remand, Delhi Police reportedly faced repeated stoppages by Himachal Police — first around 2:27 AM, then again at 3:30 AM, 4:05 AM and later at 4:39 AM near Shoghi. The convoy was allegedly halted once more at the Shoghi barrier before finally being allowed to proceed.
Earlier in the morning at 5:52 AM, Delhi Police eventually left Shimla with the accused after handing over the required seizure memo. Officials also carried with them the DVR and the seized Thar vehicle linked to the case.
The sequence of repeated interventions, even after judicial approval, has triggered political criticism. Opposition voices have alleged that the developments reflect poorly on the Himachal Pradesh government, questioning whether the state administration under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is indirectly shielding individuals facing serious allegations.
The high-voltage standoff between the two state police forces has drawn national attention, with critics claiming that Himachal Pradesh’s image has once again suffered amid allegations of administrative interference.
Further details are awaited as Delhi Police prepares to address the media on the matter.
