The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (Vigilance) has started investigating the corruption allegations against the Water Power Department at the Baggi office. The Vigilance has seized the records of 1,393 tenders and has begun to scrutinize them. They will identify suspicious tenders and request related records. After receiving permission from the government to conduct the investigation, the Vigilance has commenced its work. Currently, the Vigilance has gathered some information from the tender data, including estimated costs, tender costs, and details of who was awarded the tenders.
If some suspects are found, a detailed investigation will be conducted after taking every piece of information related to it. Along with this, the role of officers will also be investigated.
Let us tell you that a contractor from Sundernagar had complained to Vigilance alleging corruption in the Jal Shakti Department divisional office buggy, in which many allegations were made against the officials. There were allegations that departmental officers indulged in irregularities in tender allotment and benefited their favorites. In the complaint, questions were also raised on the tender process and budgetary allocation in the last financial year. After the matter came to light, the Vigilance team raided the office located in Baggi and investigated. After investigation, the executive engineer posted here was transferred. Further action will be taken in this matter only after irregularities are found in the investigation. If the facts in this case are revealed, the then-executive engineer can be included in the investigation.
The allegations of corruption against the officials of Jal Shakti Department Baggi Office are being investigated as per rules. Detailed data of the tender falling under doubt will be called for. Everything is being studied closely.-Priyank Gupta, DSP, Vigilance Mandi
