Shimla: With a focus on promoting responsible water use and creating awareness among schoolchildren, a seminar on water conservation was organised at Swarn Public School in Shimla by the Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) and SUEZ.
The awareness programme aimed to sensitise students and teachers about the importance of conserving water and avoiding its unnecessary wastage. Representatives also briefed the participants about the ambitious 24×7 water supply project being implemented for Shimla city.
Rahul Sharma, Public Relations Officer of the company, along with other representatives, interacted with the students and explained practical ways to conserve water at homes and educational institutions. The students also raised several questions about water conservation and the 24×7 water supply project, which were addressed by the representatives.
School principal Seema Mehta thanked the SJPNL and SUEZ representatives for organising the awareness seminar. She said the 24×7 water supply project, which aims to bring water from the Sutlej river to Shimla, was an important initiative to address the city’s long-standing drinking water challenges.
She said the completion of the project would provide significant support in resolving Shimla’s drinking water concerns and appealed to residents to cooperate with the authorities during the execution of the project.
The seminar concluded with a message for students to make water conservation a part of their daily lives and encourage others to use the precious resource responsibly.
