Shimla, July 31: The District Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (DLIMC), chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, has recommended the computerisation of 23 eligible Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS)/Multi-Purpose PACS (M-PACS) under Phase-III of the Centre’s flagship PACS digitisation programme.
The committee approved proposals for 12 societies from Shimla and 11 from Jubbal for submission to the State Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (SLIMC). Proposals from four newly constituted M-PACS will be considered in the next phase.
Officials informed the meeting that Shimla district has 200 registered PACS, including 49 inactive societies. So far, 99 societies have been recommended for digitisation, with 96 already transformed into e-PACS and issued handover certificates under Phases I and II.
The centrally sponsored initiative provides hardware, ERP software, internet connectivity, training, technical support and maintenance to modernise cooperative societies, improve transparency and streamline service delivery.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said digitising PACS is a key step towards transforming the cooperative sector, ensuring greater transparency, accountability and faster services for farmers and rural consumers.
Representatives from the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank, NABARD and the Cooperative Societies Department attended the meeting.
