60 Law Students Visit Solan Police Station to Gain Practical Insight into Policing, Legal Procedures

SOLAN: Sixty law students of LR Institute of Legal Studies, Ochghat, Solan, visited Solan Police Station as part of an educational tour organised in collaboration with the Solan Police administration.

The students visited the Women Police Station, Traffic Police Branch and Police Station Sadar Solan, where they gained first-hand insight into police functioning, administrative arrangements and legal procedures. The visit was led by assistant professors Aanchal Dadwal, Manoj Kumar and Shakuntala. Police officials briefed the students on the procedure for registering a First Information Report (FIR), laws related to women’s safety, traffic regulations and various aspects of day-to-day police work.

The students also visited the record room, malkhana and control room and interacted with police personnel, seeking clarification on various aspects of policing and criminal justice procedures.

Dr Sunil Deshta, director and principal of LR Institute of Legal Studies and former dean of the Faculty of Law at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, said practical exposure was as important as theoretical knowledge in legal education.“Such educational visits help students develop a better understanding of the law and gain a practical perspective on the functioning of the justice delivery system,” he said.

The institute expressed gratitude to the Solan Police administration for facilitating the educational visit and providing the students with valuable practical exposure.
