Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today hoisted the national flag at the state-level function of the 76th Republic Day at the historic Ridge Shimla. He took the salute of the spectacular march past led by Parade Commander Lieutenant Gagandeep Chauhan of 22, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was also present on the occasion. On this occasion, contingents of the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Himachal Pradesh Armed Police, Punjab Police, State Police, Home Guards, Fire Services, Himachal Pradesh Postal Services, Disaster Management, Ex-Servicemen, National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme Cadets, and Bharat Scouts and Guides, etc., marched past. Tableaux depicting the developmental activities of various departments were the main attraction of the function.
Cultural troupes from Kinnaur, Hamirpur, Shimla, and Mandi gave cultural performances. Cultural troupes from the North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala-Rajasthan and Uttarakhand also performed. On this occasion, the Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur; Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh; Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania; MLA Harish Janartha; Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan; Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Sunil Sharma; Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena; Director General of Police Dr. Atul Verma; Principal Secretary Devesh Kumar; Mayor Surendra Chauhan; Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal; senior administrative, police, and military officers; and people from across the state were also present.
