“Failed on the ground, passed on camera – the truth about electric vehicles is exposed, Election Commission should take cognizance”: BJP Mahila Morcha
Shimla, dated 5 May 2026:
BJP Municipal Councilor and Mahila Morcha State Secretary Kamlesh Mehta launched a scathing attack on the Congress government over the news of flagging off electric vehicles for garbage collection in Shimla, saying that despite the election code of conduct being in force in the state, the Chief Minister and his associates are busy only in showmanship and publicity.
They said that
“When the election code of conduct is in force in the entire state, then organizing such programs by the Chief Minister is a direct attempt to influence the elections.”
He demanded from the Election Commission that cognizance of this entire matter should be taken and it should be investigated whether the government machinery is being misused or not.
The BJP councilor said that the truth of the scheme which was launched with great publicity has come out on the very first day.
“Electric vehicles stopped moving on the road and had to be pushed – this is the biggest example of the Congress government’s ‘politics of showmanship’,” he said.
He said that these vehicles, brought at the cost of crores of rupees, are neither technically ready nor is there any concrete arrangement for their operation.
“Experiments are being carried out with public money and then it is being called an achievement in front of cameras,” he alleged.
BJP Mahila Morcha State Secretary said that
“The Congress government has completely failed to do any work on the ground, so now it is trying to mislead the public by merely holding photo-ops and showing green flags.”
Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, he said that
“The government is silent on serious issues like unemployment, inflation and promises made to women in the state, but time is taken out for campaigning.”
They said that
“This is not just administrative negligence, but a deliberate strategy to gain electoral advantage.”
In the end, he gave a strong message saying:
“The Election Commission should immediately intervene in this matter, as such activities could impact the fair election process. The public has now seen through this political charade and will hold Congress accountable in the upcoming elections.”
