The Himachal Pradesh government has appointed Anita Thakur as the Chairperson of the Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, according to an official notification issued by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The appointment has been made under Section 18 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005. Thakur, a resident of Sanjauli in Shimla, will hold office for a period of three years from the date she assumes charge, or until she attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
Officials said the appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions laid down under Section 19 of the Act.
The notification was issued with the approval of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh and signed by C.P. Verma, Secretary (Social Justice & Empowerment).
The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights plays a crucial role in safeguarding child rights and addressing issues related to child welfare across Himachal Pradesh.
