Anurag Singh Thakur Joins Indian Diaspora Reception in Tanzania, Highlights Enduring Bharat–Tanzania Bonds

 

8 October 2026, Hamirpur / Arusha, Tanzania

Former Union Cabinet Minister and MP Anurag Singh Thakur participated in the Indian Diaspora and Community Reception hosted by the High Commission of India in Tanzania. He joined the visiting Indian Parliamentary Delegation led by Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh at the special reception. The delegation is in Tanzania to participate in the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and interacted with members of the vibrant Indian community and prominent diaspora representatives in the country.

 

The reception provided a meaningful platform to celebrate the enduring goodwill between Bharat and Tanzania, strengthen people-to-people connections and acknowledge the valuable contributions of the Indian community across Tanzania. The visiting Members of Parliament were felicitated during the evening, which also featured inspiring addresses highlighting India’s democratic traditions and developmental progress.

 

A major highlight of the gathering was a series of captivating cultural performances presented by students of the Tanzania Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (TSVCC). The performances showcased India’s rich cultural heritage, civilisational diversity and the enduring cultural connections shared by Indian communities abroad.

 

Interacting with members of the Indian diaspora, Anurag Singh Thakur described them as enduring cultural ambassadors of Bharat. He highlighted how their enterprise, talent and dedication continue to strengthen the historical friendship between India and Tanzania, while their active contribution to Tanzanian society supports the growth and development of their host nation.

 

Reiterating India’s global outlook and civilisational ethos, Anurag Singh Thakur highlighted the timeless philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, reflecting the belief that the world is one family. He appreciated the High Commission of India in Tanzania for organising the reception and commended the diaspora for keeping Indian traditions, values and cultural heritage vibrant abroad.

 

The visiting Indian Parliamentary Delegation also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening India–Africa relations through shared values, cultural understanding, parliamentary engagement and continuous dialogue. The evening reflected the deep-rooted bonds between the people of India and Tanzania and highlighted the important role of the Indian diaspora in nurturing and strengthening these enduring ties.
