Committee Consults Academic, Financial and Defence Stakeholders on Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill
Hamirpur/Goa, September 30 2026:
Former Union Cabinet Minister and Lok Sabha MP Anurag Singh Thakur, a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, participated in the Committee’s study tour in Goa on Wednesday. The visit formed part of the JPC’s ongoing consultation process to seek views and inputs from key stakeholders on various provisions of the proposed legislation.
During the morning session, the Committee held detailed consultations with representatives of the Government of Goa, IIT Goa and Goa University. Representatives of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Maharashtra, C-DAC Pune and the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism also shared their perspectives on the Bill.
The Committee further interacted with officials from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The post-lunch session focused on the interface between higher education and the financial and defence sectors. Representatives of Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, UCO Bank and NABARD shared their inputs with the Committee.
The Committee also received perspectives from defence public sector undertakings, including Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited and Goa Shipyard Limited. Officials from the Department of Financial Services, Department of Defence Production and Department of Higher Education also participated in the consultations.
The study tour formed part of the JPC’s wider stakeholder consultation process aimed at examining the provisions of the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025 and gathering inputs from stakeholders across diverse sectors.
