Visits historic jail cell at Vice Regal Lodge, recalls Bhagat Singh’s courage, intellect and sacrifice
Hamirpur/New Delhi, 28 September:
On the 118th birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, MP Anurag Singh Thakur paid homage to the revolutionary at the historic jail cell preserved at Delhi University’s Vice Regal Lodge.
Anurag Singh Thakur lit a ceremonial lamp and offered prayers before Bhagat Singh’s portrait. He also visited the preserved cell and viewed historic artefacts, including a traditional woven cot and literature documenting Bhagat Singh’s life, struggle and ideas.
Anurag Singh Thakur said Bhagat Singh was not only a revolutionary remembered for extraordinary courage but also a deeply thoughtful intellectual whose ideas continue to inspire India’s youth. He said Bhagat Singh’s sacrifice and commitment to the nation remain a powerful reminder of the responsibility of young Indians towards the country.
He urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Bhagat Singh’s courage, intellectual depth and dedication to the nation and contribute to building a stronger and resilient India.
