Anurag Singh Thakur Represents Bharat at 153rd IPU Assembly in Tanzania

Indian Parliamentary Delegation Attends Inaugural Ceremony of 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha
 
Hamirpur, October 6, 2026: Senior Parliamentarian and former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur joined the multi-party Indian Parliamentary delegation representing Bharat at the inaugural ceremony of the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly held in Arusha, Tanzania. The delegation is led by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh and includes Members of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi, Sasmit Patra, Sanjay Jaiswal, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Lata Wankhede, Bijuli Kalita Medhi and NK Premachandran.
The 153rd IPU Assembly brings together parliamentarians from across the world to deliberate on shared priorities including good governance, inclusivity, people-centric development and global cooperation. The Indian Parliamentary delegation is presenting India’s perspectives and experiences on these important issues at the global parliamentary forum.
On the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony, Anurag Singh Thakur, along with fellow MPs Dr. Sasmit Patra and NK Premachandran, and India’s High Commissioner to Tanzania Bishwadip Dey, participated in high-level bilateral interactions with senior Tanzanian government leadership.
The Indian delegation had the opportunity to meet Tanzania’s Foreign Minister Dr. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Palamagamba John Aidan Mwaluko Kabudi.
The discussions focused on shared priorities including good governance, inclusivity, people-centric development and further strengthening cooperation between India and Tanzania. The engagements also provided an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and explore avenues for strengthening bilateral relations.
Beyond formal parliamentary and diplomatic engagements, the Indian delegation actively embraced Tanzania’s rich local heritage and African cultural traditions. Highlighting India’s guiding philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Anurag Singh Thakur participated enthusiastically in cultural festivities carrying messages of love, peace and unity.
Reflecting the warmth of India-Tanzania cultural ties, Anurag Singh Thakur also joined traditional Tanzanian dancers in a cultural performance. His participation symbolized the spirit of friendship, mutual respect and cultural camaraderie between India and Africa, bringing together India’s democratic values ​​and Tanzania’s vibrant cultural heritage.
