Hamirpur/Nadaun, September 26, 2026: Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur on Saturday participated in a series of programmes organised under the Seva Sankalp campaign during his visit to the district.
In Nadaun Assembly constituency, Thakur took part in programmes focused on the Fit India movement, voter awareness and registration, awareness about government schemes and promotion of local products. He attended a Fit India sports activity at Rajendra Palace in Nadaun, followed by programmes on voter registration, government schemes and Vocal for Local at Virasat Residency in Jalari.
He also participated in the Aangan Ka Utsav programme at Anganwadi centres in Dugnehri and Dulehra in the Hamirpur Assembly constituency. At Sasan, he attended programmes on Veer Gatha and felicitation of soldiers, cyber security awareness, and nutrition and anaemia awareness.
Congratulates women’s kabaddi team
During the Nadaun programme, Thakur congratulated the Indian women’s kabaddi team over a video call for winning the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. India defeated Iran in the final and remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.
“India’s daughters have made all of us proud with this victory. The team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, while four daughters from Himachal Pradesh have made every Himachali proud with their outstanding performances,” Thakur said.
The Himachal Pradesh players in the Indian women’s kabaddi team included Ritu Negi, Pushpa Rana, Jyoti Thakur and Bhawna Thakur.
Thakur targets Opposition over election-related controversy
Responding to media questions in Hamirpur regarding a political controversy linked to a report published in the media, Thakur said the Opposition was looking for reasons to shift the blame for its shortcomings instead of introspecting.
He alleged that the Congress and other Opposition parties had, at different times, raised issues concerning EVMs, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Election Commission and election commissioners in the context of electoral defeats.
Thakur said political parties should respect the people’s mandate in a democratic system and undertake introspection about their electoral performance.
On September 27, the second day of his visit, Thakur is scheduled to attend the International Conference on Society, Education and Social Development at Sri Sai University in Palampur. He will subsequently participate in the foundation day celebrations of the Dhaulladhar Sewa Charitable Trust in Palampur and attend the 21st Annual General Meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharamshala.
