APG Shimla University organised a National Seminar on “Forensic Science: Advancing Knowledge and Strengthening Practice” on the occasion of World Forensic Science Day at the Alakh Auditorium. The event was organised by the School of Allied & Healthcare Sciences (SOAHS) and Department of Forensic Science.
A significant highlight of the programme was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between APG Shimla University and SIFS India, aimed at strengthening academic and professional collaboration in the field of forensic science. The MoU was formally signed by the Registrar of APG Shimla University and Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Director, SIFS India. The collaboration is expected to facilitate opportunities for academic exchange, expert interaction, practical exposure, training and professional development for students.
The seminar brought together students and participants from APG Shimla University, Chandigarh University and K.R. Mangalam University, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, academic interaction and professional exposure.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Tina Sharma, Dean, School of Allied & Healthcare Sciences and Director, IQAC, along with faculty members, experts and students.
The seminar featured distinguished experts from various domains of forensic science. Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Director, SIFS India, shared insights into the professional and institutional dimensions of forensic science. Dr. Mahipal Singh Sankhla, scientist and researcher, spoke about his research journey and scientific contributions. Mr. Vaibhav, an expert in Cyber Forensics and emerging digital technologies, highlighted the increasing role of technology in modern investigations, while Dr. Vijay Rastogi, Questioned Document Expert, shared practical insights into questioned document examination.
A student poster presentation competition was also organised, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students of APG Shimla University, Chandigarh University and K.R. Mangalam University. The students presented their ideas and research interests on contemporary themes related to forensic science and interacted with experts during the event.
The expert sessions covered important areas including scientific research, cyber forensics, questioned document examination, emerging technologies and career opportunities in forensic science. The participation of students from different universities encouraged academic exchange and provided them with valuable exposure to current practices in the field.
The event highlighted APG Shimla University’s commitment to strengthening industry-academia collaboration and providing students with practical learning opportunities through interaction with experts and professionals.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests, SIFS India, participating universities, faculty members, student coordinators and all participants for their contribution to making the World Forensic Science Day celebration meaningful and academically enriching.
