Shimla, August 30: Newly elected Solan Municipal Corporation Mayor Sushma Sharma, Deputy Mayor Gaurav Rajput and BJP councillors met Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur at his official residence here on Sunday.
Thakur congratulated the newly elected representatives and wished them success in their tenure. He urged the councillors to give priority to issues concerning public welfare and the development of Solan.
He expressed confidence that the BJP councillors would work with dedication and commitment to meet the expectations of residents and give fresh impetus to the development of the city.
Jairam congratulates PM Modi on Uzbekistan’s top civilian honour
Shimla, August 30: Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Sunday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being conferred Uzbekistan’s highest civilian honour, the Oliy Darajali Do’stlik.
Thakur said the honour reflected Modi’s global leadership and his contribution towards strengthening friendly ties between India and Uzbekistan, besides promoting peace, cooperation and mutual trust at the international level.
He said the recognition was a matter of pride for every Indian and reflected India’s growing stature globally. Thakur added that the conferment of the honour further underscored the Prime Minister’s expanding global standing and India’s strengthening international reputation.
