In a corruption case, the CBI Chandigarh team raided the ED office in Strawberry Hills, Shimla. Even before the CBI raid, the ED deputy director accused of bribery absconded with a middleman. After searching the deputy director’s office for hours, the CBI has seized many files and other documents. It is being told that the accused have also taken the illegal recovery money with them.
CBI teams are now raiding various places in search of the accused. The Deputy Director’s residence in Shimla has also been raided. Till late Tuesday evening, the CBI team kept searching the ED office in Shimla. A case related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) was being investigated with the ED Deputy Director in Shimla.
It is alleged that the deputy director had demanded lakhs of rupees from the accused through a middleman in exchange for settling the case. In this regard, a written complaint was given to the CBI in Chandigarh by the accused. The matter was related to the Deputy Director of ED, so as per the directions of the senior officials, a special team was formed for investigation. The CBI also organized a meeting between the complainant party and the middleman. In this, a recording was also done regarding the transaction of money between them. The Deputy Director of ED also got a whiff of this, and he absconded with the middleman. On Monday itself, a case was registered against him by Chandigarh CBI under various sections, including corruption.
According to CBI sources, the investigating agency has found much evidence against the accused. These include documents related to illegal transactions and evidence obtained from electronic devices. A CBI team has also been sent out of Shimla to arrest the accused officer. During the action, the CBI had taken along the officials of the Shimla office of the Central Bureau of Investigation. This matter of the raid in the ED office by the CBI remained in the news. Both of them are central investigating agencies. ED investigates the matter related to money laundering, while the CBI investigates the matter related to corruption. CBI has been searching the ED office for 36 hours.
The CBI team raided the ED office on Tuesday morning. After this, none of the employees present in the office were allowed to go out or come in. The raid, which started on Tuesday, continued till late Wednesday evening. CBI has been searching documents in ED office for 36 hours. In this case, an officer associated with CBI said that a case has been registered. Apart from this, no other information was given by CBI. The ED office was closed from inside, and some employees were also posted outside the office. Other officers and employees of the ED office were called to the office even on Christmas holidays. The matter of the raid in the ED office by the CBI remained in discussion.
