Shimla: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan said the central government has approved a 1,422 crore project to strengthen health infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh with assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This includes 1,138 crore rupees as external assistance and 284 crore rupees as the state’s share.
Under this project, the state’s major medical colleges in Hamirpur, Nahan, Mandi, Tanda, Chamba, and IGMC Shimla will be strengthened and upgraded. A provision of ₹650 crore has been made for this, of which ₹300 crore is earmarked for the establishment of a cancer hospital in Hamirpur.
The major components of the project are as follows:-
• Installation of 3 Tesla MRI machines in Hamirpur, Tanda, Shimla and Nerchowk Medical Colleges.
• Installation of High Energy Linac (LINAC) machines at Mandi and Chamba.
• Provision of robotic surgery equipment.
• Development of 67 model health institutions.
• Digitization of health services across the state.
Mahajan said, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Honorable Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, J.P. Nadda, for approving this important project for Himachal Pradesh.”
Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, he said, however, I regret that Hon’ble Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced in Hamirpur that this budget has been allocated by the State Government, whereas in reality the entire project has been approved and funded by the Central Government, with the assistance of JICA.
In fact, all the development work being carried out in Himachal Pradesh today—whether related to roads, health, education, rural development, or any other department—is made possible through financial assistance from various central government schemes and projects. This historic initiative will usher in a new era of modern and quality healthcare services in Himachal Pradesh.
*Bihar’s opposition is not a grand alliance, but a grand fraud alliance – Rakesh Jamwal*
*Said- After cheating Himachal, now Chief Minister Sukhu is out to cheat Bihar*
Shimla: BJP state chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal sharply criticized Bihar Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s press conference, calling it another example of the Congress party’s “propaganda of lies.” He said that after deceiving the people of Himachal Pradesh with false promises, Sukhu is now out to implement the same “thug model” in Bihar. This is not a grand alliance, but a “maha thugbandhan”—one whose mission is to mislead the public, lie, and cover up its failures.
Rakesh Jamwal said that it is worrying that Chief Minister Sukhu is taking action when, at a time when Himachal Pradesh is grappling with a natural disaster, with thousands of families still awaiting rehabilitation, the state’s head is abandoning development and relief work and instead campaigning as a star campaigner for the Congress in the Bihar elections. He said that this is not only an injustice to the people of Himachal, but also proves that the Sukhu government’s priority is not public service, but power politics.
The Chief Spokesperson said that Sukhu ji had once again exceeded the limits of falsehood by claiming in Bihar that “we have given ₹1500 per month to 2.87 lakh women in Himachal.” The reality is that most eligible women in Himachal are still deprived of this scheme. He said that the Congress government promised women the dream of ₹1500, but not a single rupee reached the ground. Now bringing the same lie to Bihar is proof of Congress’s electoral fraud.
He sarcastically said that the Chief Minister has already trialed his “scam scheme” in Himachal and is now launching its “full version” in Bihar. Misleading women, promising jobs to youth, and falsely promising farmers support prices—this has become Congress’s traditional politics.
Rakesh Jamwal said that the Chief Minister is going to Bihar and talking about roads and development, while hundreds of roads in Himachal Pradesh remain closed since the disaster. Three months later, neither have the roads been repaired, nor has transportation to rural areas been restored. By postponing the Panchayat Raj Institution elections, the Sukhu government has strangled democracy. The reason given for postponing these elections is that the roads are in good condition, while presenting the Himachal model in Bihar. Meanwhile, during the Congress government’s tenure in Himachal, it’s unclear whether there are potholes in the roads or roads in potholes. Today, the state of health services is such that hospitals lack doctors, medicines, and budget expenditure is being shown only on paper.
He said that the Chief Minister, in his press conference, made a ridiculous claim by calling Himachal a “model state.” If Himachal is so developed, why are the state’s teachers protesting, contractors on the streets demanding payment, and employees being defrauded under the new pension scheme? In the name of the old pension scheme, the Congress party has made political targets of government employees.
The chief spokesperson said that the Chief Minister also claimed that milk was being purchased in Himachal for ₹100 per liter, while the truth is that farmers are still struggling to get a fair price for their produce. Neither has the MSP for milk been set, nor are farmers being paid on time. It has become a habit for the Congress party to boast about schemes that don’t even exist.
Rakesh Jamwal said that the people of Himachal Pradesh have now fully understood that the Congress government is a government of mere speeches and announcements. Now, Sukhuji is trying to deceive the people of Bihar by claiming the same false achievements. He said that Congress first deceived Himachal Pradesh and now dreams of deceiving Bihar. But the people of Bihar are very aware – they know that the symbol of real development is the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the good governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He said that the Sukhu government has pushed Himachal into a debt trap. The state’s economic situation is so dire that even employees’ salaries require borrowing. Chief Minister Sukhu may go to Bihar and give lengthy speeches, but the people of Himachal have already seen through his lies.
Rakesh Jamwal said, “This is not a grand alliance, but a grand fraud alliance—one that duped the people of Himachal and is now trying to mislead the people of Bihar. But now, their voices will be heard neither in Himachal nor in Bihar. The people of the country stand with the politics of development, transparency, and trust under Modi’s leadership.”
