A spokesperson of the state government today here informed that the Second Phase of Census-2027, i.e. Population Enumeration was being undertaken in the snow-bound areas of Himachal Pradesh from 1st September to 30th September, 2026.
The spokesperson appealed to all citizens to extend their full cooperation to the Census functionaries for the successful conduct of the Population Enumeration. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the Enumerators and Supervisors and provide complete and accurate information during the enumeration process. In particular, citizens have been requested to get themselves enumerated at their current place of residence.
The spokesperson further informed that, under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948, the personal information collected during the Census is kept strictly confidential and is used only for statistical purposes, development planning and policy formulation. Such information cannot be used as legal evidence against any individual, nor can Census records be disclosed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The spokesperson appealed to all citizens to actively cooperate with the Census functionaries and help ensure the smooth, accurate and successful completion of the Census exercise.
Census is an important national exercise essential for planning, policy formulation and the development of the country. The Population Enumeration aims to collect complete and accurate information regarding the residential status of the population to ensure that every person is counted correctly and no individual is left out.
