Consumers Can Register Complaints About Poor-Quality Flour on Toll-Free Number 1967

Nahan, October 24: Consumers in Sirmaur district can register complaints about poor-quality flour and other ration supplies received from fair price shops by calling the toll-free number 1967, District Controller of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Shamsher Singh said.

He said consumers could also contact the department at 01702-222558 if they receive substandard ration or are charged more than the prescribed rates. The department is taking steps to ensure the timely redressal of complaints, he added.

Under the Targeted Public Distribution System, food grains are being supplied at subsidised rates through 380 fair price shops operating across Sirmaur district.

To monitor the quality of food grains, particularly wheat flour, the department collects samples every month from the corporation’s wholesale warehouses and 12 flour mills operating in the district. These samples are sent to the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department’s laboratory in Shimla for testing.

The department has urged consumers to report any irregularities in ration quality or pricing to help ensure the supply of quality food grains and protect consumer rights.
