Shimla, March 20: A dental health awareness workshop was organized at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Junga, to mark World Oral Health Day, where students were educated about oral hygiene and the harmful effects of junk food.
Dentist Dr. Rajesh Thakur from Civil Hospital highlighted the importance of maintaining healthy teeth, stating that oral health not only enhances facial appearance but also plays a key role in proper digestion. He explained that missing or unhealthy teeth can negatively impact the digestive process.
Dr. Thakur advised students to brush their teeth twice daily to prevent issues such as bad breath, cavities, and gum diseases. He also demonstrated proper brushing techniques and encouraged regular dental check-ups. Stressing on diet, he urged children to avoid junk and fast food, calling them harmful to overall health, and recommended brushing teeth after consuming sweets.
Students actively participated in the programme by presenting posters highlighting various dental diseases and preventive measures.
Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Verma, Principal Mahesh Sharma, Dental Technician Rajesh Sharma, NDK Counselor Praveen Sharma, and school staff were also present on the occasion.
