Bharmour, April 10
A massive protest was held in Bharmour on Friday as local residents and party workers demonstrated against what they termed as “anti-people” policies of the Sukhu-led Himachal Pradesh government.
A large number of people participated in the protest, expressing strong resentment against the government. Carrying flags and placards, the demonstrators marched through the main market area, alleging that the current policies are not in the interest of the common public.
Addressing the gathering, speakers said that recent government decisions have created hardships for farmers, youth, employees and the general public. They highlighted several key issues, including poor condition of basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity and drinking water, weak healthcare services, and a declining education system.
The protesters also accused the government of neglecting local residents and showing bias in development works.
The speakers warned that if their concerns are not addressed soon, the agitation would be intensified in the coming days.
The protest remained peaceful, and the demonstrators said a memorandum would be submitted to the government through the administration.
MLA Dr Janak Raj extended his support to the protest, stating that the voice of the people cannot be ignored and urging the government to take immediate corrective measures.
