165 girl students from 18 schools are participating in the competition.
Shimla, September 26. The district-level Major Sports Competition for Under-19 Girls began on Saturday at the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Junga. 165 girls from 18 schools in Shimla district are participating in this three-day competition. Various events in hockey, football, handball, basketball, and athletics are being held during the competition.
The competition was inaugurated by APMC Shimla Chairman Devanand Verma by lighting the lamp. Afterward, school Principal Mahesh Sharma welcomed the chief guest, all the guests, judges, and students from various schools. He encouraged the students to participate in the competition with discipline, unity, and confidence, and to give their best.
During the inaugural ceremony, girl students from various schools participated in the march past, in which Portmore School secured the first position. In the football match on the first day of the competition, Portmore School defeated Kinnu School by 3-1. Players also performed brilliantly in athletics events. In the 100 meter race, Asha of Mashobra won the gold medal, Vibhuti of MPS Fagu won the silver medal and Angel of Portmore won the bronze medal. In the 3000 meter race, Manisha of Majholi Tipper won the gold medal, Deepika of Kinnu won the silver medal and Aastha of MPS Fagu won the bronze medal.
Physical teachers, players, SMC officials and local school staff from various schools participated in the programme.
