Delhi Public School, Shimla, organised ‘Eloquence – Where Words Find Their Voice,’ an Intra-School Poetry Recitation Competition that celebrated the beauty of language, creativity, and confident expression among students from Nursery to Class VI.
The event was graced by Vivek Mohan Sharma, National Award-winning filmmaker and storyteller; Pratima Wilson, Senior Faculty Member at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, and Cambridge educator; and Asshur Wilson, Cambridge educator, historian, accomplished pianist, and alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the School Headmistress, Veena Chauhan.
Young participants impressed the audience with expressive and confident recitations on diverse themes, including patriotism, compassion, humour, imagination, peace, discipline, and the importance of human values. Their performances reflected excellent diction, stage presence, and a deep appreciation for literature, making the event a vibrant celebration of poetry and self-expression.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guests praised the students for their confidence and encouraged them to harness the power of language to think creatively, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to society.
A special highlight of the day was an interactive session for the parents of the Primary Wing conducted by eminent psychologist Dr. Shalini Dhadwal. Her insightful talk on positive parenting, effective communication, and children’s emotional well-being offered practical guidance to parents for supporting their child’s holistic development.
The event concluded on a high note, with appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the students, teachers, and parents. Under the visionary leadership of Headmistress Veena Chauhan, Delhi Public School, Shimla, continues to provide meaningful platforms that nurture confident communicators, critical thinkers, and compassionate future leaders.
‘Eloquence’ reaffirmed the school’s belief that when children are encouraged to express themselves with confidence, words become a powerful force for learning, leadership, and positive change.
