Chamba, September 21: Deputy Commissioner Chamba Mukesh Repswal has directed officials to ensure the registration of all eligible farmers under the Farmer Registry on the Agri Stack portal by September 30, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the Farmer Registry, an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, under the Agri Stack project.
Officials informed the meeting that Chamba district has around 78,000 beneficiaries under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, of whom 62,395 are active beneficiaries. So far, 49,116 active beneficiaries have received their unique Farmer IDs through the Farmer Registry. This represents around 78.72 per cent of active PM-Kisan beneficiaries, while registration has been completed for approximately 62.83 per cent of the district’s total PM-Kisan beneficiaries.
Repswal directed the Agriculture Department to accelerate the registration of the remaining beneficiaries. He asked officials and field staff to set targets, regularly review progress and complete registration based on the lists of pending beneficiaries already provided at the block level.
He said farmers registered under the Farmer Registry would receive a unique 11-digit Farmer Identification Number (Farmer ID), which will facilitate access to benefits and services under various government schemes, including PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and seed-related facilities.
Digital Crop Survey Reviewed
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress of the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) and directed the concerned department to speed up the approval process to achieve 100 per cent approval within the stipulated timeline.
Automatic Weather Monitoring Equipment
The meeting further reviewed the installation of automatic water meter stations and automatic rain gauges across the district under the WINDS (Weather Information Network Data System) initiative.
Repswal directed the concerned departments and executing agency to expedite the installation at the remaining locations.
He said that accurate, local-level weather information is important for farmers as well as various government departments. The installation of automatic monitoring equipment will strengthen the availability of weather-related data and support the district’s disaster management and preparedness systems.
