The government has decided to increase the prices of DAP and 12-32-16 fertilizer used before sowing the crop. The price of a bag of DAP fertilizer has been increased by Rs 240. At present, a 50 kg bag of DAP fertilizer is available for Rs 1,350 across the country. In Himachal, the state government gives a subsidy of Rs 50 per bag on it. Therefore, farmers pay Rs 1,300 per bag. With the increase in the price of this fertilizer by Rs 240 from January 1, a bag will be available for Rs 1,540. A bag of 12-32-16 fertilizer currently costs Rs 1,470. The state government also gives a subsidy of Rs 50 per bag on this. Therefore, its price in Himachal is Rs 1,420. From January 1, the price of this fertilizer will be Rs 1,620 per bag. Due to subsidies, the burden of crores of rupees is increasing on the central government, to reduce which farmers are now being appealed to buy liquid nano fertilizer. Therefore, now it has been decided to increase the prices of fertilizer.
Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) is used more on crops grown inside the ground. For example, DAP is sprayed on a large scale before sowing in potato crops. This fertilizer contains nitrogen and phosphorus in abundance. Both elements are considered important for the development of the root of the plant. At the same time, 12-32-16 fertilizer is made up of three main nutrients necessary for plants, i.e., nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. It contains nitrogen 12%, phosphorus 32%, and potassium 16%. This fertilizer keeps the amount of phosphorus and potassium correct in the soil.
Mashuq Ahmed, Regional Manager, said that fertilizer prices are going to increase from the new year. However, the official notification is yet to come. The new orders regarding prices will come into effect from January 1.
