Former Chairman of State Bank of India Foundation Nixon Joseph participated as an expert in the job-placement workshop of pass-out students of APG Shimla University on Thursday and guided the students to be successful in every field. This workshop was organized under the leadership of Dr. Monica Verma, Chairman of Job-Placement Department of APG Shimla University and Dean Academics Prof. Dr. Anand Mohan Sharma. While interacting with the students in the workshop, Nixon Joseph said that the skills you have learned from the university related to your course or degree, you have to establish those skills in yourself and establish them in every field. Joseph said that if you have skills, then do not run towards a job in view of the need of today’s era, rather you should become an entrepreneur yourself and your endeavour should be to become an entrepreneur and give work to others, give them jobs. By becoming a successful entrepreneur, the youth will represent India and this can only happen when you have skills, leadership power, communication skills, discipline, problem solving, new thinking, better experience with the best knowledge in innovation. Joseph said that the meaning of job or becoming an entrepreneur is not just to earn money but to make a positive contribution to the development of human society and the nation. Joseph said that India is still adopting the old model of education, this cannot be a solution to deal with problems like unemployment. However, the new National Education Policy has raised hopes. On this occasion, Joseph discussed the objectives, activities and contribution of SBI India Foundation and SBI Foundation India Fellowship to the society. Students also asked their questions and got the opportunity to know more about SBI India Foundation and becoming a successful entrepreneur. Joseph said that the initiatives of SBI India Foundation are proving beneficial for various sections of the society in areas like education, health and social welfare. The students learned a lot from this conversation and it helped in increasing awareness about the work of SBI India Foundation. Joseph said that the main objective of SBI India Foundation is to promote social development in India. It works mainly in the areas of education, health, livelihood and environment, and supports various initiatives to improve the lives of disadvantaged communities, improve education in rural areas and provide skill development opportunities to youth, especially for disadvantaged communities and support health awareness programmes, provide livelihood opportunities to rural communities, promote environmental protection and sustainability, such as water conservation and waste management. Joseph said that SBI Foundation strives to achieve these goals through various programmes and initiatives and through the SBI Youth for India Fellowship, provides youth an opportunity to work with NGOs on rural development projects. SBI Foundation aims to promote social justice and sustainable development in India, especially for disadvantaged communities. Dr. Monika Head of Job-placement cell, Dean Academics Prof. Dr. Anandamohan, and Heads of other departments of all the streams thanked Nixon Joseph, Former Chairman, SBI India Foundation and the administration and management of APG varsity for motivating and guiding the students to become successful entrepreneurs.
