The Health and Family Welfare Department, Solan, organized a menstrual hygiene awareness camp under the World Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Campaign to promote awareness about menstrual health and hygiene among women and adolescent girls.
The programme was chaired by BCC Coordinator Radha Chauhan, who highlighted the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation and addressing misconceptions associated with the natural biological process.
Addressing the participants, Chauhan said that safe and hygienic menstrual practices are essential for maintaining good health. She advised women and adolescent girls to use clean and safe sanitary pads, tampons or properly washed and dried cloth during menstruation and emphasized that sanitary pads should be changed every four to six hours.
She also provided detailed information on hand hygiene, personal cleanliness and the safe disposal of used sanitary products.
Chauhan stressed the need to eliminate social stigma, myths and hesitation surrounding menstruation so that women and girls can openly discuss their health concerns and seek timely medical assistance whenever required.
She urged participants to remain aware of their health needs and adopt hygienic practices during menstruation.
The camp also included awareness sessions on balanced nutrition, prevention of anaemia, reproductive health and various precautions related to menstrual hygiene, helping participants gain a better understanding of overall health and well-being.
