The budget session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly is starting from today. This time, the session is expected to be uproarious. The ruling party will be defensive, while the opposition will adopt an aggressive stance. There will be a barrage of questions in the session. 963 questions will be asked tomorrow.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will read the budget speech at 2 pm. Discussion on the governor’s address will begin tomorrow, which will continue till March 13.
Chief Minister Sukhu will present his and the government’s third budget on March 17. After this, the discussion on the budget will continue for three days. This time, the budget session will run till March 28. This time there will be a total of 16 meetings. There will be private member days on March 22 and 27 in the budget session. On this day, MLAs of the ruling party and the opposition will be able to raise issues related to their area in the House. The budget for the financial year 2025–26 will be passed in the House on March 26. There will be no question an hour after the governor’s address today. There will be a zero hour after the question hour from tomorrow during the session. This time, the budget session is expected to be very uproarious. During the budget session, heat will be seen on issues like money of temples to run government schemes, financial condition, elderly sections not getting pensions, Congress guarantee, unemployment, corruption, and recruitment in the assembly. Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has said that these issues related to the public will be raised prominently in the House.
Before the start of the budget session, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania called an all-party meeting, in which an appeal was made to run the proceedings of the House properly. 963 questions have been asked in this time’s budget session. Of these, 737 questions are starred and 226 are unstarred. Similarly, discussions have been sought by the MLAs on 24 subjects under different rules. 1000 police personnel have been deployed for security during the budget session of the Assembly. Anti-social elements will also be monitored through CCTV cameras. No one will be allowed to enter the assembly without a pass.
Before the budget session, the Congress and BJP legislative parties have met and formulated a strategy to corner each other. The BJP legislative party meeting was held last evening, while the Congress legislative party meeting was held today. The ruling party made a strategy to answer the opposition’s attacks. Similarly, the opposition also made a strategy to corner the ruling party on issues such as unemployment, closure of institutions, law and order, and financial situation.
