The Meteorological Department predicts rain and precipitation in various regions of Himachal Pradesh during the next seven days, bringing with it another round of winter weather. With the minimum temperature falling below zero in five places, the cold wave has strengthened its hold and made the entire region much colder.
Today’s sky was overcast, with sporadic rays of sunshine in Shimla and the neighboring districts. But districts like Kinnaur, Chamba, and Lahaul-Spiti remain impacted from the impact of the recent snowfall, which triggered major disruptions by making several Lahaul-Spiti highways inaccessible.
Light rain and snowfall are expected in the middle and upper elevations between January 18 and 21 and on January 24, according to the Shimla Meteorological Center. January 22 and 23 are likely to see widespread precipitation, with light to moderate rain possible in lower hill and plain locations.
Over the next three to four days, the highest temperature is predicted to stay constant before dropping significantly by four to five degrees Celsius. Likewise, it is anticipated that the minimum temperature would steadily drop by two to three degrees Celsius during the next few days.
In certain areas of the state, cold day conditions will be expected on January 22, and residents have been alerted to the possibility of cold wave conditions on January 18. Travelers planning to visit areas affected by snow have been cautioned by authorities, as more snowfall could create more difficulties.
