Dharamshala, April 28: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has cancelled the accreditation of 32 Himachal Pradesh State Open School (HPSOS) study centres across the state with immediate effect for failing to deposit the prescribed renewal fee.

In a notification issued on April 28, the board stated that despite being given adequate time, the centres did not comply with fee requirements. Acting under Clause 5.3 (sub-point 3b) of its earlier notification dated December 8, 2023, HPBOSE ordered the cancellation, rendering these centres ineligible to operate from the September 2026 session onwards.
The affected institutions are spread across multiple districts including Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan and Una. Prominent names on the list include study centres attached to schools in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Solan regions.
Students to be shifted, records to be preserved
The board clarified that students already enrolled through these centres will be transferred to the nearest active and accredited HPSOS centres. The transfer fee, if applicable, will be borne by the parent study centre whose accreditation has been discontinued.
HPBOSE has also directed that all student records at the cancelled centres must be safely preserved.
No fresh admissions allowed
The notification makes it clear that the de-recognised centres will not be permitted to fill HPSOS online forms for the September 2026 session or thereafter. Additionally, the IT cell has been instructed to immediately deactivate all online privileges linked to these institutions.
Restoration subject to compliance
The board noted that any request for restoration of accreditation will be processed strictly as per provisions laid down in its January 13, 2026 notification.
The order was issued by HPBOSE Secretary Dr (Major) Vishal Sharma.
