IEC University to observe National Pharmacovigilance Week from Sept 21 to 25

Baddi, September 21: IEC University’s School of Pharmacy will organise the sixth National Pharmacovigilance Week from September 21 to 25 to promote the safe and rational use of medicines and create awareness about adverse drug reactions and their timely reporting.

This year’s theme is “Promoting Rational Use of Medicines: A Step Towards Safer Healthcare Through Pharmacovigilance.” The five-day programme will begin at 10.30 am on September 21 at the university auditorium, with faculty members, students and other participants attending the inaugural session.

University vice-chancellor Prof. Ashok Puri extended his best wishes to the students and the School of Pharmacy team for organising the programme. He said such initiatives play an important role in creating awareness among students about the safe and responsible use of medicines.

Five-day programme to feature competitions and awareness activities

A series of competitions and awareness activities have been planned throughout the week. A quiz competition will be held on September 21, followed by a street play on medicine safety on September 22.

A CME/conference and debate will be organised on September 23, while a poster and leaflet competition will be held on September 24. The programme will conclude on September 25 with a walkathon and cultural programme.

The organisers expect around 100 participants to take part in the activities. The programme aims to enhance awareness among pharmacy students about pharmacovigilance, adverse drug reactions and the importance of their timely reporting, while also spreading the message of safe and responsible medicine use in society.
