Shimla:
The Student Services Centre (SSC) at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) organised a workshop on Psychological First Aid for faculty and staff on May 2, 2026, at the Digital Learning Centre (DLC).
The session, held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, aimed to equip participants with practical tools to support members of the campus community during times of psychological distress.
The workshop was conducted by Divya Sehgal, who served as the resource person. She introduced participants to the core principles of psychological first aid, highlighting the importance of empathy, active listening and timely intervention in addressing mental health concerns.
Through interactive discussions and scenario-based learning, attendees were guided on identifying signs of distress, responding appropriately and offering initial support while maintaining professional boundaries.
The session also underscored the need to build a supportive and responsive campus environment, particularly in view of increasing academic and personal pressures faced by students.
Participants appreciated the workshop’s practical approach and relevance to their roles. The SSC reiterated its commitment to promoting mental well-being on campus and said it will continue organising similar capacity-building initiatives in the future.
