Former Himachal CM attends Sair Mahotsav organised by Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha in New Delhi
New Delhi: Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday praised the Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha for its more than six decades of social service to the people of Mandi and Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur was speaking at the ‘Sair Mahotsav’ organised by the Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha in New Delhi. He said the organisation has been contributing to healthcare, education, disaster relief and public welfare, besides working to preserve and promote the culture and traditions of Mandi and Himachal Pradesh.
“I feel proud to participate in a programme organised by an organisation that has been selflessly serving the people of Mandi and Himachal Pradesh and staying connected with its roots,” Thakur said.
He said the Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha was established in 1961 with the objective of bringing together people from Mandi and Himachal Pradesh living in Delhi and undertaking social welfare activities.
Over the years, he said, the organisation has evolved into a broad social platform representing the people of Mandi and Himachal Pradesh. It organises free medical and eye-care camps and provides a common platform for people from different regions and social backgrounds.
Thakur also appreciated the Sabha’s efforts to preserve the cultural heritage and traditions of Mandi and Himachal Pradesh.
He congratulated the office-bearers, members and volunteers of the Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha for successfully organising the Sair Mahotsav and expressed hope that the organisation would continue to expand its social service activities.
Thakur congratulates ABVP on Delhi University election victory
Thakur also congratulated the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers and winning candidates following the organisation’s victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections.
He described the result as an encouraging development for the student organisation and extended his best wishes to the newly elected representatives.
Thakur said the victory reflected the confidence placed by students in the ABVP and added that young people would play an important role in shaping India’s future.
He also referred to the ABVP’s recent victory in the Punjab University student elections, saying the organisation’s performance in the two universities demonstrated the active participation of students in campus affairs.
“Student power is national power, and the youth of the country will play a crucial role in building the future of India,” Thakur said, while congratulating ABVP workers and candidates on their electoral success.
