Bowing to sustained protests by students, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, has substantially revised its recently announced fee structure, reducing charges for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2026-27 academic session.
The university has slashed fees across both general and self-financing seats. The annual fee for undergraduate general seats has been reduced from ₹68,700 to ₹49,500, while self-financing UG seats will now cost ₹99,990 instead of ₹1.27 lakh.
For postgraduate courses, the fee for general seats has been brought down from ₹87,000 to ₹55,000, while self-financing PG programmes will now cost ₹1.05 lakh, down from ₹1.42 lakh.
The university has also reduced several additional charges. Admission fees have been cut from ₹15,000 to ₹7,000, placement guidance fees from ₹1,000 to ₹300, and the refundable college security deposit from ₹2,000 to ₹1,000, providing further financial relief to students.
The revised fee structure follows widespread opposition from the Central Students’ Association and other student groups, who had criticised the earlier proposal for imposing steep fee hikes shortly before the admission process. Following discussions with student representatives, the university decided to cap the increase at around 15–20 per cent over last year’s fee levels instead of the much higher hikes initially proposed.
University Public Relations Officer Suchet Atri said the revised fee structure will be effective from the 2026-27 academic session, reducing the financial burden on students and their families while ensuring the institution’s financial sustainability.
