The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding a cold wave in the lower and plain areas of the state. At the same time, the mercury of seven cities in the state is in the minus as far as the minimum temperature is concerned. Tabo was the coldest in the state, with a minimum temperature of -12.1 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, minimum temperatures of -7.8 degrees Celsius were recorded in Kukumseri, -8.5 in Samdo, -0.9 in Bhuntar, -0.7 in Bajaura, -1.6 in Kalpa, and -1.8 degrees Celsius in Manali.
Thousands of tourists who reached Manali after years celebrated White Christmas this year. Even though there is no snow in the city, tourists reached Solang nala, Atal Tunnel, Sissu, and Koksar and enjoyed a white Christmas amidst snow. Tourists also enjoyed winter sports like skiing and paragliding. Atal Tunnel remained closed for general vehicles on Wednesday also due to black ice.
A large crowd of tourists was seen in Solanganala. However, four-by-four vehicles were allowed to go beyond Solanganala. In this, some tourists also reached Sissu, Koksar, and the North and South Portals of the Atal Tunnel in four-by-four vehicles. Shivashish, a tourist from Delhi, said that seeing snow is no less than a dream for him. This Christmas festival became memorable for him. He also enjoyed skiing in Solang nala. Saurabh from Mumbai said that he has come to Manali to celebrate his honeymoon with his wife. Snowfall made his honeymoon memorable. He enjoyed White Christmas a lot in Solanganala. Himachal Winter Games Association President Ludar Chand said that Solang nala is full of snow. Tourists had a lot of fun amid almost half a foot of snow.
On the preparations for the New Year and other programs, Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that “Shimla is our capital, and we are fully prepared for the new year. We have completed our preparations like last year. We have made a comprehensive plan at the district administration level. With full planning, commitment, and conviction, we have prepared a detailed plan for security, traffic, and law and order, and we are implementing it to accomplish our goals properly and do our work properly.”
